CHARITIES FOR THE POOR.
New Shoreham was one of the parishes intended to benefit from the charity of Henry Hilton but seems never to have received anything. (fn. 1) J. S. Balley by will proved 1876 gave a sum producing £39 a year to be distributed half in cash and half in kind to the poor of New Shoreham; (fn. 2) W. W. English by will proved 1917 gave a sum producing £8 a year to be distributed in cash and kind to the same; both were being distributed in 1976. (fn. 3)
