PRESTON

Roman coins of the 3rd and 4th centuries and a fibula are reported (fn. 1) from a farm in the parish.
(1) Enclosures and Linear Ditches (SP 036012), undated, show as crop-marks covering about 13 acres on the gentle slopes of King's Hill, above the R. Churn. At N.W. the ditches appear to extend into allotment gardens in Cirencester parish.
N.M.R., OAP SP 0300/1/332–3; 0301/2/334–7.
(2) Enclosures and Linear Ditches (SP 054006), undated, show as crop-marks on level ground around St. Augustine Farm. Faint indications in fields A and B suggest that the ditches extend over some 40 acres.
C.U.A.P., AOO 31–2. N.M.R., OAP SP 0500/3/263–4; 0500/5/177–8.
