Superintendent of Slave Trade Department 1824-45
In 1824 an annual allowance of £200, payable from the funds voted annually by Parliament to meet the expenses of various commissions for the suppression of the slave trade, was awarded to Bandinel, the Second Senior Clerk, as Superintendent of the Slave Trade Department. (fn. 1) The allowance had been increased to £400 by 1828. (fn. 3) In 1841 it was provided that the allowance should be discontinued on Bandinel's retirement, which took place in 1845. (fn. 3) Thereafter the duty was performed without any additional allowance by one of the Senior Clerks.
