Reading Clerk 1807-32
In 1807 an annual allowance of £50 was made available to a Clerk from the Secretary's Office chosen by the Board to act as Reading Clerk. (fn. 1) No restriction was placed on the salary of the Clerk in receipt of the allowance, which was invariably paid to one of the senior Clerks in the Secretary's Office.
