Storekeeper of the Stables 1702–1837
The storekeeper was appointed by the master of the horse. His duties were to maintain and store furnishings for horses and other stores belonging to the Stables. This office first appears on the Establishment of 1702 at £93 per annum. Under Anne this place was held in conjunction with that of yeoman sadler. By 1807, it was granted an additional allowance of £31 per annum. In 1812 its salary was reduced to £81. This establishment also names a storekeeper at Carlton House at £57 per annum.
By 1830 this officer also received an allowance of £9 10s. (fn. 1)
