The Lord Chancellor acquainted the House, "That His Majesty had been pleased to issue a Commission to several Lords therein named, for declaring His Royal Assent to several Acts agreed upon by both Houses of Parliament."

The House was adjourned during Pleasure.

The House was resumed.

Then Three of the Lords Commissioners, being in their Robes, and seated on a Form placed between the Throne and the Woolsack, the Lord Chancellor in the Middle, with the Archbishop of Canterbury on his Right Hand, and the Lord Grenville on his Left, commanded the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod to signify to the Commons, "The Lords Commissioners desire their immediate Attendance in this House, to hear the Commission read."

Who being come, with their Speaker;

"His Majesty, not thinking fit to be personally present here at this Time, has been pleased to cause a Commission to be issued under the Great Seal, and thereby given His Royal Assent to divers Acts, which have been agreed upon by both Houses of Parliament, the Titles whereof are particularly mentioned; and by the said Commission hath commanded Us to declare and notify His Royal Assent to the said several Acts, in the Presence of you the Lords and Commons assembled for that Purpose; which Commission you will now hear read."

Then the Lord Chancellor said,

"In Obedience to His Majesty's Commands, and by Virtue of the Commission which has been now read, We do declare and notify to you the Lords Spiritual and Temporal and Commons, in Parliament assembled, That His Majesty hath given His Royal Assent to the several Acts in the Commission mentioned; and the Clerks are required to pass the same in the usual Form and Words."

Then the Clerk Assistant having received the Money Bill from the Hands of the Speaker, brought it to the Table, where the Deputy Clerk of the Crown read the Title of that and the other Bills to be passed, severally, as follows; (videlicet)

1. "An Act for granting to His Majesty an additional Duty on Sugar imported into this Kingdom."

To this Bill the Royal Assent was pronounced by the Clerk Assistant; (videlicet)

A Petition of Sir John Henderson Baronet, Appellant in a Cause depending in this House, to which Robert Bruce Henderson Esquire is Respondent, was presented and read, setting forth, "That the Parties in this Cause are Brothers contending for the Right to a considerable Estate in Scotland, and the Suit has been conducted in that amicable Way which becomes such near Relations: It is not the Wish of the Petitioner to create any unnecessary Delay, but the Importance of the Case requires that he should be fully prepared, which he is not at present, owing to his having been led to believe, from the Number of Causes which stood before it, that this would not be heard for some Time; the Petitioner's Case is now drawing by Counsel in Scotland, and the necessary Papers are ordered to be transmitted, so as that every Thing may be in Readiness for the Hearing immediately after the Easter Recess;" and therefore praying Their Lordships, That this Cause may be appointed to be heard on the Second Cause Day after the Recess, or at such other Time as Their Lordships think most proper under the Circumstances:"

And thereupon the Agents on both Sides were called in and heard at the Bar; and being withdrawn:

Ordered, That this House will hear the said Cause by Counsel at the Bar, on the Second Cause Day after the Recess at Easter, as desired.

Norfolk Woolcombers' Bill.

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for more effectually preventing Frauds and Abuses committed by Persons employed in the Manufactures of combing Wool and Worsted Yarn, in the County of Norfolk, and City of Norwich, and County of the same City."

After some Time, the House was resumed:
