With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for the Relief of Debtors, with respect to the Imprisonment of their Persons; and to oblige Debtors, who shall continue in Execution in Prison beyond a certain Time, and for Sums not exceeding what are mentioned in the Act, to make Discovery of, and deliver upon Oath, their Estates, for their Creditors Benefit;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Bill was read the First Time.

Ordered, That the said Bill be printed.

To prevent the stealing of Dogs, Bill.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for the more effectual preventing the stealing of Dogs;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for vesting divers Lands and Hereditaments, in the Counties of Cornwall and Devon, settled and entailed on Denys Rolle Esquire and his Issue, in him in Fee Simple; and for settling other Lands and Hereditaments, in the said County of Devon, of greater Value, to the same Uses;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, with One Amendment, to which they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

Barnsley Common, &c. Road, Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for repairing and widening the Road leading from the East Side of Barnsley Common in the County of York to the Middle of Grange Moor, and from thence to White Cross; and also the Road from the Guide Post in Barugh to a Rivulet called Barugh Brook, and from thence for Two Hundred Yards over and beyond the same Rivulet, or Brook, into the Township of Cawthorne in the said County."

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to continue several Laws therein mentioned, relating to the allowing a Drawback of the Duties upon the Exportation of Copper Bars imported; to the Encouragement of the Silk Manufactures; and for taking off several Duties on Merchandize exported, and reducing other Duties; to the Premium upon Masts, Yards, Bowsprits, Tar, Pitch, and Turpentine; to the encouraging the Growth of Coffee in His Majesty's Plantations in America; to the securing the Duties upon Foreign-made Sail Cloth, and charging Foreign-made Sails with a Duty; and for enlarging the Time for Payment of the Duties omitted to be paid on the Indentures and Contracts of Clerks, Apprentices, or Servants; and also for making Affidavits of the Execution of Articles or Contracts of Clerks to Attornies or Solicitors, and filing thereof."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House.

Rolle's Bill.

The House proceeded to take into Consideration the Amendment made by the Commons to the Bill, intituled, "An Act for vesting divers Lands and Hereditaments, in the Counties of Cornwall and Devon, settled and entailed on Denys Rolle Esquire and his Issue, in him in Fee Simple; and for settling other Lands and Hereditaments, in the said County of Devon, of greater Value, to the same Uses."

The Lord Sandys reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act to continue and amend Two Acts, one made in the Thirteenth Year of the Reign of His late Majesty King George the First, and the other in the Seventeenth Year of His present Majesty, for repairing certain Roads leading from Chippenham, and for repairing several Roads leading from Chippenham Bridge; and to repeal so much of an Act, made in the Twenty-ninth Year of His present Majesty, as relates to the Road between the said Bridge and Lower Stanton in the County of Wilts," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Duties on Plate Licenses, Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Charlton and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to amend an Act made in the last Session of Parliament, for repealing the Duty granted by an Act made in the Sixth Year of the Reign of His late Majesty on Silver Plate; and for granting a Duty on Licenses to be taken out by all Persons dealing in Gold or Silver Plate, by permitting the Sale of Gold or Silver Plate in small Quantities without License; and by granting a Duty, instead of the Duty now payable, upon Licenses to be taken out by certain Dealers in Gold or Silver Plate; and also a Duty upon Licenses to be taken out by Pawnbrokers dealing in Gold or Silver Plate, and Refiners of Gold or Silver;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Annuities of 1757, to add to Consolidated Annuities, Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Charlton and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for adding certain Annuities, granted in the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty-seven, to the joint Stock of Three per Cent. Annuities, consolidated by the Acts of the Twenty-fifth, Twenty-eighth, and Twenty-ninth Years of His present Majesty's Reign, and for carrying the several Duties therein mentioned to the Sinking Fund; and for charging the Annuities on Single Lives, granted in the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty-seven, on the Produce of the said Fund;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Two Bills were read the First Time.

E. of Powis's Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Fellowes and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for empowering Henry Arthur Earl of Powis and Barbara Countess of Powis to make Leases of the Estate late of William Marquis of Powis, deceased, in the County of Montgomery, for Twenty-one Years, or Three Lives, at the improved Rent;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, without any Amendment.

After hearing Counsel in Part, in the Cause wherein Edward Mac Culloch of Auchinguill is Appellant, and Janet Mac Culloch his Wife Respondent:

It is Ordered, That the further Hearing of the said Cause be adjourned till To-morrow.

Number of Causes limited.

Ordered, That the Cause wherein Charles Cajetan Count Leslie and Anthony Leslie of Balquhain are Appellants, and Peter Grant and David Orme his Tutor in Litem are Respondents, which stands appointed for Tomorrow, be put off to Friday; and that the Cause wherein the Honourable James Wemyss and others are Appellants, and Hugh Mackay Esquire is Respondent, be heard on Monday next; and that this House will hear no more than the said Two Causes during this Session.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of the Reverend Ralph Hawtrey Clerk, Master of Arts, Vicar of the Parish of Killcolum, otherwise Kilcobin, in the Diocese of Ossory and County of Kilkenny in the Kingdom of Ireland; complaining of a Decretal Order of the Court of Chancery in Ireland, pronounced the 25th of January 1759, but which was not entered with the Register of the said Court on the 17th of April last; and praying, "That the same may be reversed and set aside; and that the Appellant may have such other Relief in the Premises as the Nature and Circumstances of the Case may require; and that Cassandra Daniel, John Digby, Cassandra M^cNaughton, Sydnam Snow, Robert Snow, and Richard Lord Bishop of Ossory, may be required to answer the said Appeal:"

It is Ordered, That the said Cassandra Daniel, John Digby, Cassandra M^c Naughton, Sydnam Snow, Robert Snow, and Richard Lord Bishop of Ossory, may have a Copy of the said Appeal; and do put in their Answer or respective Answers thereunto, in Writing, on or before Tuesday the 19th Day of June next; and Service of this Order upon their several and respective Clerks in Court, or Attornies in the said Court of Chancery in Ireland, shall be deemed good Service.

After hearing Counsel, as well Yesterday as this Day, upon the Petition and Appeal of Edward M^c Culloch of Auchinguill; complaining of an Interlocutor of the Lord Ordinary in Scotland, of the 27th of February 1759; and praying, "That the same might be reversed or varied, or such other Relief given the Appellant in the Premises as to this House should seem (fn. 2) meet:" As also upon the Answer of Janet M^c Culloch put in to the said Appeal; and due Consideration had of what was offered on either Side in this Cause:

Interlocutor reversed.

It is Ordered, and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Interlocutor complained of in the said Appeal be, and the same is hereby, reversed; and that the Bill of Advocation be absolutely refused.

The House being moved, "That the Standing Order of this House, requiring Fourteen Days Notice to be given of the Meeting of Committees upon Private Bills, might be so far dispensed with, as that the Committee to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for making a Partition and Division of certain Lands and Hereditaments, in the County of Surrey, agreed to be purchased by Thomas late Lord Onslow; and for settling and limiting the same, for the Benefit of the several Persons claiming under his Marriage Settlement and Will, respectively; and also for selling and disposing of Timber, growing on the Estate devised by his Will, for the Purposes therein mentioned," stands committed, may meet on an earlier Day than is appointed, in regard of the approaching Conclusion of the Session:"

Ordered, That the Bill, intituled, "An Act to prevent Tenants or Occupiers from acquiring a Settlement in any Place by being there rated, and paying the Money by any Land Tax Assessment charged," be read a Second Time on this Day Two Months.

Message from H. C. to return Sir E. Blackett's Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Thomas Clavering and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for carrying into Execution the Articles made on the Marriage of Sir Edward Blackett Baronet with Dame Ann his Wife, by a Settlement to be made with and under certain Variations and Provisions more beneficial for the Issue of the said Marriage;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, without any Amendment.

L. Onslow's Bill: Committee shortened.

The Order of the Day was read, for taking into Consideration the Motion made Yesterday, for dispensing with the Standing Order of this House, requiring Fourteen Days Notice to be given of the Meeting of Committees upon Private Bills, so far as that the Committee to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for making a Partition and Division of certain Lands and Hereditaments, in the County of Surry, agreed to be purchased by Thomas late Lord Onslow; and for settling and limiting the same, for the Benefit of the several Persons claiming under his Marriage Settlement and Will, respectively; and also for selling and disposing of Timber growing on the Estate devised by his Will, for the Purposes therein mentioned," stands committed, may meet on an earlier Day than is appointed, in regard of the approaching Conclusion of the Session.

And Consideration being had thereof accordingly:
