Bishop of Peterborough to preach 30th January.

Ordered, That the Lord Bishop of Peterborough be, and he is hereby, desired to preach before this House, in the Abbey Church, Westminster, on Monday the 30th Day of January next.

Land Tax Bill.

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee on the Bill, intituled, "An Act for granting an Aid to His Majesty, by a Land Tax, to be raised in Great Britain, for the Service of the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty-eight; and for enforcing the Payment of the Rates to be assessed upon Somerset House in The Strand."

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Warwick reported from the Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Malt Bill.

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee on the Bill, intituled, "An Act for continuing, and granting to His Majesty, certain Duties upon Malt, Mum, Cyder, and Perry, for the Service of the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty-eight."

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Warwick reported from the Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Organzine Silk, Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Nugent and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for allowing the Importation of such fine Italian Organzine Silk into this Kingdom, from any Port or Place whatsoever, as shall have been shipped on or before the Day therein mentioned;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Message from H. C. to return E. of Sandwich & al. to qualify as Vice Treasurer of Ireland, Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Wilkes and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable John Earl of Sandwich, Wellbore Ellis Esquire, and Thomas Potter Esquire, to take, in Great Britain, the Oath of Office, as Vice Treasurer and Receiver General and Paymaster General of all His Majesty's Revenues in the Kingdom of Ireland, and to qualify themselves for the Enjoyment of the said Offices;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, without any Amendment.

Hodie 1^a & 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for allowing the Importation of such fine Italian Organzine Silk into this Kingdom, from any Port or Place whatsoever, as shall have been shipped on or before the Day therein mentioned."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House.

Ordered, That the House be put into a Committee on the said Bill, To-morrow.

Lady Bulkeley & al. Pet. referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of Emma Lady Viscountess Dowager Bulkeley in the Kingdom of Ireland, Widow and Relict of James late Lord Viscount Bulkeley, deceased, who was Brother and Heir of Richard late Lord Viscount Bulkeley, deceased, for and on the Behalf of Thomas James now Lord Viscount Bulkeley, her only Son, an Infant, and also of several other Persons whose Names are thereunto subscribed, being Purchasers of, or Contractors for, the Estate of the said James late Lord Viscount Bulkeley in the County of Anglesey; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for carrying into Execution certain Contracts for Sale of Lands in the County of Anglesey, therein mentioned, by such Ways and Means, and in such Manner, as shall be thought proper and requisite:

It is Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be, and is hereby, referred to the Lord Chief Baron of the Court of Exchequer and Mr. Justice Clive; who are forthwith to summon all Parties concerned in the Bill; and, after hearing them, are to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands, and whether all Parties who may be concerned in the Consequences of the Bill have signed the Petition; and also that the Judges, having perused the Bill, do sign the same.

Witnesses to attend, on Wentworth's Divorce Bill:

Ordered, That John Mountain, Robert Pulman, Hannah Daniel, and George Broombead, do attend this House, on Thursday the 19th Day of January next, in order to be examined as Witnesses upon the Second Reading of the Bill, intituled, "An Act to dissolve the Marriage of (fn. 1) Godfrey Wentworth Esquire with Dorothea Pilkington his now Wife; and to enable him to marry again; and for other Purposes therein mentioned."

Sharpe to enter into a Recognizance on Boyle's Appeal.

The House being moved, "That Joshua Sharpe may be permitted to enter into a Recognizance for Bellingham Boyle Esquire, on account of his Appeal depending in this House; he being in Ireland:"

It is Ordered, That the said Joshua Sharpe may enter into a Recognizance for the said Appellant, as desired.

His Majesty, being seated on the Throne, adorned with His Crown and Regal Ornaments, and attended by His Officers of State (the Lords being in their Robes); commanded the Deputy Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod to let the Commons know, "It is His Majesty's Pleasure, they attend Him immediately, in this House."

Who being come, with their Speaker; he, after a short Introduction in relation to the Money Bills to be passed, delivered them to the Clerk; who brought them to the Table; where the Clerk of the Crown read the Titles of those and the other Bills to be passed, as follow:

Bills passed.

"1. An Act for continuing, and granting to His Majesty, certain Duties upon Malt, Mum, Cyder, and Perry, for the Service of the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty-eight."
