E. Rochford chosen Speaker pro Tempore .

The House was informed, That the Lord Mans sold, Lord Chief Justice of the Court of King's Bench, the Speaker of this House, appointed by His Majesty's Commission, being in the Country, and not able to attend here this Day, and no Person having been appointed by His Majesty to supply his Place, it is necessary that their Lordships should proceed to the Choice of a Speaker for this Day for the Purpose of proroguing the Parliament.

Which done,

The Lords unanimously chose the Earl of Rochford to be Speaker pro Tempore.

PRAYERS.

Then the Speaker acquainted the House, That His Majesty had been pleased to grant a Commission under the Great Seal for the further Prorogation of the Parliament.

Then Four of the Lords Commissioners being in their Robes, and seated on a Form placed between the Throne and the Woolsack, the Earl of Rochford in the Middle, with the Archbishop of Canterbury on .his Right Hand, and the Lord Privy Seal and the Lord Harwich on His Left, commanded the Yeoman Usher of the Black Rod to let the Commons know, The Lords Commissioners desire their immediate Attendance in this House to hear the Commission read.
