SCHEDULE.-PART the TENTH.

Containing,

THE DUTIES in respect of GAME CERTIFICATES in Ireland.

UPON each and every Certificate to authorize any person not being a Gamekeeper to kill Game in Ireland, and upon each and every Certificate to be given to any person of having registered a deputation or appointment as a Gamekeeper in Ireland, the sum of 3£. 13s. 6d.

Ordered, That a Bill or Bills be brought in upon the said Resolution: And that Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer and Mr. George Dawson do prepare, and bring it in.

Report on Tobacco Acts.

Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer reported from the Committee of the whole House, to whom it was referred to consider of the Acts 12 Charles 2, c. 34, for prohibiting the planting, setting or sowing of Tobacco in England and Ireland; and, 22 Geo. 3, c. 73, to explain an Act made in the twelfth year of the reign of King Charles the Second, intituled, "An Act for prohibiting the planting, setting or sowing of Tobacco in England or Ireland, and to permit the Use and Removal of Tobacco, the growth of Scotland, into England, for a limited time, under certain Restrictions," the Resolutions which they had directed him to report to the House; and the same were read, and are as followeth;

1. Resolved, That it is the opinion of this Committee, that an Act passed in the 12th year of the reign of his Majesty King Charles the Second, for prohibiting the planting, setting or sowing of Tobacco in England or Ireland; and an Act passed in the 22d year of the reign of his late Majesty King George the Third, to explain the said Act, and to permit the Use and Removal of Tobacco, the growth of Scotland, into England, for a limited time, under certain Restrictions, should be repealed.

2. Resolved, That it is the opinion of this Committee, that there shall be levied, collected and paid for and upon every pound weight avoirdupois of all unmanufactured Tobacco, of the growth or produce of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, an Excise Duty of One shilling and eight-pence, to be paid by the grower or producer thereof.

Ordered, That the Report be taken into further consideration upon Monday the 26th day of this instant April.

Report on Courts of Law (Compensation to Officers.)

Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer reported from the Committee of the whole House, to whom it was referred to consider of making compensation to certain Officers of the Superior Courts of Common Law in England and Wales, the lawful fees and emoluments of whose offices may be reduced by any Act to be passed in this Session of Parliament, the Resolutions which they had directed him to report to the House; and the same were read, and agreed to by the House; and are as followeth;

1. Resolved, That Compensation shall be made out of the Consolidated Fund of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, to Officers of the Superior Courts of Common Law in England and Wales, the lawful fees and emoluments of whose offices may be reduced by the operation of any Act which may be passed in this Session of Parliament.

2. Resolved, That the Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury be authorized to purchase the interest of any person in any office or employment in the Superior Courts of Common Law in England and Wales, which may be abolished by virtue of any Act which may be passed in this Session of Parliament, and that the Purchase-money for the same shall be paid out of the Consolidated Fund of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.

Instruction.

Ordered, That it be an Instruction to the Gentlemen who are appointed to prepare and bring in a Bill to regulate the appropriation of Fees payable to Officers in the superior Courts of Common Law, that they do make provision therein, pursuant to the said Resolutions.

Sale of Beer Bill, presented. No. 266.

Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer presented a Bill to permit the general Sale of Beer by Retail in England: And the same was read the first time; and ordered to be read a second time upon Monday the 3d day of May next.

Ordered, That the Bill be printed.

Petitions against Dundee Gas (No. 2.) Bill.

Two Petitions of Members of the Dundee Gas Light Company, and Inhabitants of Dundee and places adjacent thereto, in the county of Forfar, were presented, and read; taking notice of the Bill to establish a Company for lighting with Gas the Town of Dundee, and places adjacent, in the County of Forfar; and praying, That they may be heard by themselves, their counsel or agents against certain parts thereof.

And the said Petitions were ordered to be referred to the Committee on the Bill; and that the Petitioners be heard by themselves, their counsel or agents upon their Petitions, if they think fit.

Ordered, That counsel be admitted to be heard in favour of the Bill, against the said Petitions.

Return respecting Cultivation of Tobacco (Ireland), ordered.

Ordered, That there be laid before this House, a Return of the number of Acres of Land in Cultivation for the produce of Tobacco in Ireland; stating the number of Acres in each Township in the year 1829, and the number of years such cultivation has been continued.

And then the House adjourned till Monday the 26th day of this instant April.
