To the abbot of the monastery de Benedictione dei alias de Killbeagin and the prior of the monastery, wont to be governed by a prior, of St. Mary, Rennahyl [sic], in the dioceses of Meath and Kildare (Miden. et Daren.), and Constantine Macaedhagayn, a canon of Kildare. Mandate, as below. The priorship of the house or monastery of St. Mary, Killethye, O.S.A., in the diocese of Kildare, which is conventual, is void by the free resignation of Maurice Yheglan made to Edmund, bishop of Kildare, and admitted by the said bishop, by his ordinary authority, and is reserved under the pope's late reservation of all conventual priories; and the rectory of the parish church of St. Patrick de Cruechan, alias of St. Corban de Killeorbay [sic], in the said diocese, of lay patronage, has been so long void that by the Lateran statutes its collation has lapsed to the apostolic see. The pope, therefore, wishing to confer a special favour on Rory (Roricus) Oconchuyr, a canon of the said house or monastery (who alleges that he is in or about his twenty-fourth year, and that he has not yet made his profession of the said Order, and that James Ohacglan, a canon of the said house or monastery, has for some years detained possession of the said house or monastery, under pretext of a collation made to him de facto by the ordinary, and that Edmund Okonallayn, priest, of the said diocese, has for a certain time detained possession of the said rectory, under pretext of certain surreptitious papal letters), hereby orders the above three to summon the said James and Edmund, and to collate and assign to the said Rory the said priory and rectory, yearly values not exceeding 12 and 8 marks sterling, respectively, namely, the said priory after he has made his profession, and the rectory to be held for life, even together with the said priory and with all the benefices with or without cure which he shall hold in future; inducting him, and removing the said James and Edmund. The pope further specially dispenses him to receive and retain the said priory, and not to be bound by reason of it to be promoted to deacon's and priest's orders for seven years, provided that within the first of such seven years he be promoted to the order of subdeacon; notwithstanding the said defect of age, etc. Religionis zelus, vite ac morum.
