Bullarum Liber XLV.
5 Innocent VIII.
1489. 17 Kal. Aug. (16 July.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 279r.) |
To William Odocgardaid, Odo Macbloscaid, and Donald Obraein, canons of Derry (Deren.). Mandate, as below. The pope has been informed by Cormac (Cormagus) Machonnuge, a canon of Derry, that Donald Okerualan, rector of the parish church of Furnay in the diocese of Derry, has, when under sentence of excommunication, and publicly proclaimed as such, celebrated masses and other divine offices, in contempt of the Keys, and has taken part therein, thereby contracting irregularity; and that Tholomeus Obuyll, rector of the parish church of Arsdrath (fn. 2) in the same diocese, has committed simony and perjury, and openly keeps a concubine. The pope, therefore, at the recent petition of the said Cormac, who alleges that the fruits, etc., of his canonry are nil, and that those of each of the said rectories of Furnay and Ardesterthch [sic] do not exceed 8 marks sterling a year, hereby orders the above three, if the said Cormac will accuse the said Donald and Tholomeus before them, to summon them and those interested, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove the said Donald and Tholomeus, and in that event to unite and appropriate the said rectories to the said canonry, for as long as the said Cormac shall hold it. Apostolice sedis circumspecta providentia. [6 pp.+. In the margin at the end: ‘Aug(usti).’] |
