To William Elphinston, [bishop] elect of Ross. Provision to him, who is a priest, of [the diocese of] (fn. 1) Glasgow, licentiate in decrees and M.A., and a counsellor of James, king of Scots, of the church of Ross, void by the death of John without the Roman court, during whose lifetime it was specially reserved by the present pope. Divina disponente. [Eubel, Hierarchia Cathol., from the Obligationes, and without the name of the last bishop.]
Concurrent letters to the chapter—Hodie ecclesie vestre; to James, king of Scots,—Gratie divine; to the archbishop of St. Andrews— Ad cumulum; to William Elphinston, priest, of the diocese of Glasgow, licentiate in decrees—Multiplicum virtutum (dispensation for him, who is also M.A., to act as bishop, notwithstanding his illegitimacy, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman); to William Elphinston, elect of Ross—Cum nos hodie (faculty to be consecrated by any catholic bishop in communion with the apostolic see, and for such bishop to consecrate him, after receiving from him the usual oath of fealty, according to the form enclosed, which oath William is himself to send to the pope by his own letters patent sealed with his seal; without prejudice to the archbishop of St. Andrews, the metropolitan). To Alexander Inglis, perpetual vicar of Dondonald in the diocese of Glasgow. Reservation to the pope's gift, for collation to him, at the petition of William, archbishop of St. Andrews, on behalf of the said Alexander, who is his proctor in the Roman court and his kinsman, and is of noble birth, of the parish church of Kyrkmichael in the diocese of Glasgow, value 12l. sterling, to become void by the pope's promotion of William, [bishop] elect of Ross, to that see and by the consecration which is to be conferred on him; with mandate to the bishop of Aberdeen, the dean of Dunkeld, and Stephen de Cacciis, a canon of Vercelli, to make the collation on voidance. Alexander is hereby dispensed to receive it, and to retain it with his said vicarage, and to exchange them for two other incompatible benefices, etc. Vite etc. (In the margin: Aug.) [4 pp.]

Motu proprio grant and dispensation to retain for life with the said church, provision of which the pope has this day made to him, or with any other cathedral or metropolitan church, all his benefices, provided that the cure of souls therein be not neglected, but be exercised by fit vicars.
