the terms in being : without fine in consideration
of his eminent services to their Majesties.
Prefixing : (a) note of said Russell's petition, as
referred Mar. 11 last ; (b) report, dated Mar. 14
last, from William Taylor, Deputy Surveyor General
thereon. The late Queen Mother's Trustees granted
to John Harvey and Sir John Coell, in trust for
the late Earl of St. Albans, all the bailiwick or
manor of St. James's for several terms, the last
whereof expired at Michaelmas, 1691. By indenture
of 23 Sept., 1662, Charles II confirmed the said
leases made by the Queen Mother and granted a
further term of 29 years from 1691, Michaelmas,
in the piece of ground, here petitioned for, called
Suffolk Stable Yard, heretofore enclosed with a
brick wall and containing about three acres, upon
which several tenements are erected now called
Suffolk Street. The interest as to this parcel was
assigned to the late Earl of Suffolk and by him to
divers other persons.
In 1679 the Surveyor General [Sir C. Harbord]
made an estimate or survey of the whole manor of
St. James's and certified that there were then
standing on this ground about 60 houses, whereof
the ground rents paid by the improvers were
accounted 250. per an., and he then valued 50
of these houses upon the improvement at 20l.
per an. each, or 1,000l. above the said ground rent,
and the other 10 at 50l. per an., or 500l, above the
same, making in all, with the said ground rents,
1,750l. per an.
I have viewed the premises and find them rather
fallen than improved since 1679, so that the desired
reversion cannot be valued at more than four years'
purchase, or 7,000l. |

Treasury warrant to the Surveyor General of Crown
Lands for a particular of a piece of ground and
shop without St. James's Gate, in order to a lease
thereof to Thomas Potter for 31 years at 6s. 8d.
per an. . of which ground Potter had a verbal
grant from Charles II to build said shop on.
Appending : said Potter's petition for same and
report, dated Nov. 20 last, from Sir Christopher
Wren thereon. The shop is against St. James's
Wall, one storey 15 feet by 10 feet, not fit to be
enlarged without damage to the house, "but not
unuseful to the place if it continue a barber's shop
as it is." It may be valued at 60l. or 70l. |

Royal warrant, under the Queen's sign manual [to
the Treasury Lords], for the allowing to Charles Fox
and Thomas Coningsby in the account which they
are to render for the Forces in Ireland to 1692,
Mar. 31, the sum of 99,432l. 19s. 6d. paid by them,
by royal direction, to Jacob Vander Esch : and for
charging the said Vander Esch with the said sum,
"to the end we may receive a particular account
of the disbursement thereof."
Appending : statement of separate sums so paid by
said Fox and Coningsby to Vander Esch to the
amount of said total sum ; the separate items
covering from 1691-2, Jan. 1, to 1692, Mar. 26. |

Lands of the petition of Charles Trevanion of
Crego, esq., shewing that he holds a tenement in
Resugo in the manor of Treverbyn in the Duchy
of Cornwall, under a grant dated 1661, Nov. 23,
to Jon. Trelawney, and that one William Cock of
the parish of St. Austell, gent., has obtained a
lease thereof by suggestions contrary to the late
Act [of 1 James II, c. 9] : therefore praying that
Cock's suggestions may be examined and that
petitioner may be admitted to a fresh lease. |
