The Treasury Lords to the Commissioners of Accounts.
In answer to yours of this day, we do not make
any difficulty of allowing the sum of 2,500l. which
you desire may be paid to Mr. Tollett upon account
for your clerks, messengers, officers and contingencies

what was allowed for those officers and charges in
the former year. But their Majesties' occasions
being very pressing for money, and this sum being
for 1¼ years almost wholly to come, we presume it
will be sufficient to answer the service if we appoint
it to be paid by 100l. a week out of the Excise until
the whole 2,500l. be satisfied. We intend to obtain
a royal warrant and [to sign] our own order for
paying it accordingly. |
