Same to the Mayor of Bedford. The Treasury
Lords recommend you to cause the victuallers
in your town, lately suppressed, to be again
restored according to the intimation given by the
King in Council : otherwise my Lords will be forced
to make a fresh complaint as the Excise Commissioners
have represented this matter to my Lords
as one very much tending to lessen the revenue,
"which at this time especially will be very much
to the prejudice of their Majesties' service." |

Ibid. |
Same to the [Principal] Officers of the Ordnance.
There is due a considerable sum from Mr. Shallet
to the Excise. To enable him to meet same he
desires payment of a debenture for 1,060l. 17s. 6d.

with two men and with five passengers, Col.
Talmach's servants ; with permission to said

Same to same to observe (a) infra.
Prefixing : (a) the like Order of the like date, prescribing

England] of ships returning to Ireland be only for
their going to such parts of that kingdom as are
under their Majesties' obedience : and further that
such ships after their arrival in Ireland be permitted
(in case it be desired) to trade as coasters in any
part of that kingdom under their Majesties' obedience
or to this kingdom of England on the master's
giving bond to the Customs officers there to come
directly hither and not to go to any other places
whatsoever : all by reason that the Customs Commissioners
have represented that the bonds directed
to be taken by the Order in Council of the 12th inst.,
supra, ibid. (for all masters of ships going to
Ireland to return directly to England and not to
any other place whatsoever) will prove inconvenient
and therefore they did desire that the said Order
may be, as hereby, so explained that the condition
of those bonds may be only for their return to that
kingdom. (William Jephson to the Revenue
Commissioners, Ireland, enclosing the present Order
for explaining the general embargo Order of the
