Grant to him, at the petition also of bishop Edmund, whose chaplain he is, to receive and hold for life any benefice, even with cure, wont to be held by secular clerks, even if of the patronage of laymen, and to resign it, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases. To the chancellor of Exeter, S.T.M. Mandate, at the recent petition of bishop Edmund, S.T.M. (containing that on account of his singular devotion to St. Raphael the Archangel, he has composed an office, and desires the feast of the said Saint to be celebrated on every Oct. 5 in every church in which it is accepted, and the said office to be said therein at the first and second vespers, and at matins and the other canonical hours of that day), to join to himself six other masters of theology, and if he find, after examination of the said office, that it is not contrary to the canons, to decree that the said feast shall be celebrated and observed on the said day by all who consent and agree, and the said office said at the said hours. To John Morton alias Boldi, (fn. 5) rector of Ilfer de Combe in the diocese of Exeter, bachelor of canon law. Dispensation to him —who holds besides the above rectory, a canonry and prebend of Exeter, value together not exceeding 100l., and is at present in the Roman court—to hold for life together with the said church any benefice with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if it be another parish church or a perpetual vicarage or dignity, etc., and to resign both, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases, and hold instead two incompatible benefices, even if parish churches etc.; notwithstanding a constitution lately made by the pope [on Nov. 11, 1431, in Ottenthal, Regulæ Canc. Apost., p. 253, No. 105 of the Regulæ Eug. IV.] whereby no one, except certain persons expressed therein, shall in future be dispensed to hold two parish churches, unless they be so close together that they can be conveniently served by one person, and their fruits etc. do not together exceed 24 gold florins of the camera, etc. Litterarum etc. (B. Relaxation, at the petition of Henry, king of England, of seven years and seven quarantines of enjoined penance to penitents who on the principal feasts of the year and that of St. Mary Magdalen and the dedication, the usual octaves and six days of Whitsun week, and of a hundred days to those who during the said octaves and days visit and give alms for the completion of the collegiate church or chapel of St. Mary Magdalen in the field called Hatheleyfeld (in campo Hatheleyfeld nuncupata, rectius in campo Batheleyfeld nuncupato), in the diocese of Lichfield, whose foundation was begun by king Henry IV; with indult for the warden to choose fit priests, secular or religious, to hear the confessions and grant absolution, except in cases reserved to the apostolic see.
