To the bishop of Killaloe. Mandate as below. The recent petition of Dermit Meicgyllaphadryg, canon of the Augustinian monastery of St. Mary, Ynisgad, in the diocese of Killaloe, contained that the pope formerly [above, p. 125] ordered provision to be made to Cornelius Yruogyn, canon of the Augustinian priory of St. Mary Magdalen, Grenoble, of the said monastery, as void by the death of abbot Thomas Ohymuyr; that although the said Cornelius is not of noble birth, and although the fruits etc. of Ynisgad do not exceed a net yearly value of 16 marks, Cornelius untruly expressed in the letters of the said provision that he was of noble birth, and that the said fruits etc. do not exceed a yearly value of 12 marks; and that, entering into unlawful compacts with Patrick Ohenne, sometime canon of Ynisgad, who was then wrongfully detaining possession of the monastery, as he has done for more than nine years and still does, Cornelius has not used the said letters. The pope therefore orders the above bishop to summon the said Patrick and Cornelius and others concerned, and if he find the facts to be as stated, to decree the said letters null, and in that event to make provision of Ynisgad, net value not exceeding 16 marks, as stated by Dermit above, to the said Dermit, who is a subdeacon, is by both parents of noble birth, intends to reform the said monastery, and lately received papal dispensation, as the son of a priest, a canon of the said order, and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure. The said bishop is to bless Dermit or cause him to be blessed by another catholic bishop, after which Dermit's oath of fealty is to be received, according to the form enclosed, and sent to the pope, as usual.
