Mandate (at the recent petition of John Paston', monk of Cluny in the diocese of Macon, containing that a cause arose lately between him and Nicholas Loddon', monk of the same monastery, about the Cluniac priory of Bromholme in the diocese of Norwich, provision of which, void by the resignation of Clement Chandelier, [now] monk of the said monastery, then prior of Bromholme, made to Thomas Elmon (sic), Cluniac prior of Lenton in the diocese of York, vicar in spirituals of Robert, abbot of Cluny, from whom he had special power for the purpose, John claimed to have received by authority of the ordinary, which provision Nicholas opposed, preventing it, as he still does, from taking effect, and claiming that the priory lawfully belonged to him; and that the present pope at John's instance committed the cause, although not by its nature lawfully devolved to the Roman court, to the above auditor, who has proceeded short of a conclusion) if he find in the course of the suit that, as some assert, neither John nor Nicholas has any right, to collate and assign to John the priory, which is conventual and has cure, and is wont to be governed by monks of the said monastery, value not exceeding 40l. Mandate (at the recent petition of the prior and convent of the Augustinian priory of St. Mary the Virgin, Kells (de Kenllis), in the diocese of Ossory, containing that by reason of wars etc. the fruits etc. arising from their appropriated parish churches of Kells (de Kenllis), and St. Keranus's and Erleiston, and other churches and chapels in the said diocese, which were formerly abundant, are now so diminished that they cannot pay the burdens arising from the said churches etc., especially the yearly sum of 7½ marks to the ordinary for visitation; and praying for its reduction to 6 marks) to inform himself, and if he find the facts to be as stated, to reduce the 7½ marks to a smaller sum. Peter and Paul's, Clar, in the diocese of Killaloe, who lately received papal dispensation, as the son of an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, the priory of Ynyscronayn, of the same order and in the same diocese, which is conventual and has cure, depends on the above monastery and is wont to be governed by canons thereof, and whose value does not exceed 6 marks, which has been so long void, because Thomas Ochaayn held it for more than a year without having himself ordained priest, that by the Lateran statutes its collation has lapsed to the apostolic see, and which is reserved to the pope under his late reservation of all conventual priories in Ireland, void and to be void.
