(who lately had papal dispensation, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted etc. as above, f. 4) the archdeaconry of Kildare, a non-major non-elective dignity with cure. value not exceeding 20 marks, void by the death of Richard Cogdan, although Adam Taylour, priest, of the diocese of Dublin, who is to be summoned and removed, unlawfully detains possession; notwithstanding that the pope has this day (after rehabilitating William for having, without having any other dispensation on account of his said illegitimacy, obtained possession of and held for some time, as he was then doing, the canonry and prebend of Ley in Kildare) ordered provision to be made to him of the said canonry and prebend, together with which he is hereby dispensed to hold the archdeaconry. Collation and provision to him, who has studied canon and civil law for about six years at Oxford, of the deanery of Ossory, a major elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 80 marks, void by the death of John Ocuyrk, and reserved to the pope under his late reservation of all major cathedral dignities, void and to be void, in Ireland; notwithstanding that he holds the treasurership of Cashel, a dignity, and the canonries and prebends of Inysnak in Ossory and Kyltagayn and Donnachmoyr in Lismore, and that the pope has lately granted him provision of the archdeaconry of Ossory, of which he has not got possession, value not exceeding 96 marks. Upon obtaining the deanery under these presents he is to resign the said treasurership, and the said grant shall be null. Vite etc. |

Collation and provision of the deanery of Leighlin, a major dignity with cure, value not exceeding 16 marks, to which on its becoming void by the death of John Macumurhuga alias Edalagh, and therefore reserved to the pope under his above general reservation, the chapter, to whom the election ordinarily belongs, in ignorance of the pope's said reservation, elected Nicholas who, likewise ignorant, obtained confirmation of the election from John Stantoun, clerk, vicar-general in spirituals of Richard then bishop of Leighlin, which election and confirmation being null, the deanery is still void. Mandate to summon John Rede, sometime dean of Waterford and others concerned, and if he find that, as the pope has learned, the said John, after obtaining the said deanery by canonical collation, has held it for more than a year without having himself ordained priest, to collate and assign it, a major dignity with cure, value not exceeding 20 marks, consequently void, to Edmund Flemyng, priest, of the diocese of Cashel, any unlawful detainer being removed; notwithstanding that Edmund has lately had provision by authority of the ordinary of the perpetual vicarage, possession of which he has not yet got, of Kyllbrhac in the said diocese, value not exceeding 3 marks, which, upon obtaining the deanery, he is to resign.
