Lateran Regesta, Vol. CXXXVIII (fn. 1)

De Dignitatibus Vacantibus

13 Kal. Feb.
Bologna.
(f. 16d.)
To the bishop of Veszprém and the abbots of Raithtuoyg and Outorna in the diocese of Ardfert. Mandate to collate and assign to Maurice Fizmoris, precentor of Ardfert, who is by both parents of a race of barons and earls, and has for six years studied canon and civil law in certain universities, the deanery of Ardfert, with cure, a major elective dignity, value not exceeding 20 marks, void and reserved to the pope under John XXII's constitution Execrabilis, because John [son] of Thomas Fizmoris obtained and held it for a month and more with his perpetual benefice called the rectory of Ratheys in the said diocese, which is in no church and has cure; notwithstanding that Maurice holds the said precentorship, which, upon obtaining the deanery, he is to resign. Nobilitas generis, vite ac morum.
Ibid.
(f. 17.)
To the abbot of Rathtuoyg in the diocese of Ardfert. Mandate to collate and assign to David [son] of Thomas Fizmoris, priest, of the said diocese—who has had papal dispensation, as the son of a deacon and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, has studied canon and civil law for seven years in an university, and is of a race of earls and barons—if found fit in Latin, the chancellorship of Ardfert, a dignity with cure, not major and not elective, value not exceeding 7 marks, void by the death of Henry Karhynd. David is hereby dispensed on account of his said illegitimacy. Dignum arbitramur.
13 Kal. Aug.
Pisa.
(f. 34d.)
To the bishop of Veszprém, the abbot of Boyle (de Buellio), and the prior of Inchmacnerin (Insula Macneri) in the diocese of Elphin. Mandate to collate and assign to Donald Macdonnchaid, clerk, of the diocese of Elphin, the deanery of Elphin, which has cure and is an elective dignity, value not exceeding 30 marks, void by the death of Malachy Oflannagan. Vite ac morum.
Ibid.
(f. 48.)
To the archbishop of Pisa, the bishop of Raphoe and Dermit Ocoyneyl, canon of Killala. Mandate to collate and assign to Eugenius Macmeamnanydomnaill, canon of Raphoe, the deanery of Derry (Deren.), a major elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 40 marks, void and reserved to the pope under the constitution Execrabilis, because Donald Macgillibridi obtained and held it for a month and more with his rectory of Theachbuichin in the diocese of Raphoe; notwithstanding that Eugenius has lately been received by authority of the ordinary as a canon of Raphoe. Vite etc.

De Prebendis Vacantibus

4 Non. Aug.
Pisa.
(f. 96d.)
To the abbot of Abyndon in the diocese of Salisbury. Mandate to receive from Master Nicholas de Rysscheton, papal chaplain and auditor, his proposed resignation of his canonry and prebend of Pole in Crediton, and to collate and assign the same, value not exceeding 30 marks, to Nicholas, clerk, of the diocese of Lichfield, son of Henry de Rysscheton. The abbot is to take care that there be no simony. Dignum arbitramur.
2 Id. Feb.
Bologna.
(f. 102d.)
To Richard Prentys. Collation and provision motu proprio to him, a priest, of the canonry and prebend of Grantham otherwise called Grahann South or Minor in Salisbury, value not exceeding 100 marks, void at the apostolic see and therefore reserved to the pope by the free resignation there, without having had possession, of Henry, [now] bishop of Sabina to whom, then bishop of Tusculum, provision thereof was made by Innocent VII on their voidance through the provision made by that pope to Thomas, bishop of Durham, of that see, and his consecration performed by order of the same pope. Richard says that he formerly obtained the same by authority of the ordinary on their voidance by the said provision and consecration, and still holds them. Vite etc.
Concurrent mandate to the bishops of Adria, London, and St. Davids. Vite etc.

De Beneficits Vacantibus

3 Id. Feb.
Bologna.
(f. 242.)
To the official of Ely. Mandate to receive the resignation of Stephen Rolf, rector of Peterystre in the diocese of Norwich and to collate and assign the church, value not exceeding 25 marks, to Stephen Ufford, priest, of the same diocese, if found fit in Latin; with the simony clause as above, f. 96d. Dignum arbitramur.
9 Kal. March.
Bologna.
(f. 271d.)
To the deans of Tuam and Elphin and the archdeacon of Tuam. Mandate to summon and remove the Cistercian abbot and convent of Knockmoy (Collis Victorie) in the diocese of Tuam, who unduly detain the ecclesiastical benefice without cure called the rectory of Oudiarmada in the said diocese—not founded in any fixed church, whose rector receives yearly certain fruits etc. of a number of parish churches, and which has been so long void that there is no certain knowledge as to the mode of its voidance—and to collate and assign the same, value not exceeding 20 marks, to John Oraidechayn, clerk, of the same diocese; notwithstanding that the pope has recently ordered provision to be made to him of the perpetual benefice called the rectory of Munterfathaid in the same diocese, value not exceeding 10 marks. Vite etc. (Stephanus, x, residuum pro deo, de Prato.)
8 Kal. Dec.
Pistoia.
(f. 273d.)
To the prior of St. Mary's, Inchmacnerin (Insula Macneri), in the diocese of Elphin. Mandate to summon and remove Donatus Ommachan, priest, of the diocese of Achonry, who unduly detains the perpetual vicarage of Cillmurchan in that diocese, void by the death of Morianus Machochlainn (sic, cf. p. 42), and to collate and assign it, value not exceeding 4 marks, to Cormac Ocallanam, clerk, of the same diocese, if found fit in Latin. Dignum [arbitramur].
