De Provisionibus [Prelatorum].



1467. Id. Nov. (13 Nov.) St. Mark's, Rome. (f. 43.)	To Richard Wyly, archdeacon of Brechin, M.A. Grant etc. as below. The pope has learned that the monastery de Calco alias de Kelso, O.S.B., in the diocese of St. Andrews, has become void by the death of abbot Alan, during whose lifetime its provision was specially reserved to the pope. He has this day, moreover, upon learning that the said Richard desired to be a monk of the said monastery, ordered certain judges to receive him as a monk thereof, give him the habit, and receive his profession. He therefore grants to the said Richard, who is a priest, the said monastery in commendam for three months from the date of these presents, in such wise, however, that he shall be bound in the meantime to receive the said habit and make his profession; and decrees that from now, as from the time when he takes the said habit and makes his profession, provision has been and is made to him of the said monastery. During the said three months he shall be able to dispose of the fruits etc. as true abbots have been able to do, etc. Summi disposicione rectoris.

15 Kal. Dec. (17 Nov.) St. Mark's, Rome. (f. 44d.)	To Richard Wyly, abbot of the monastery de Calco alias de Kelso, O.S.B., in the diocese of St. Andrews. Faculty for him, to whom the pope has recently made provision of the said monastery, to be blessed by any catholic bishop of his choice, in communion with the apostolic see. The consecrating bishop shall therafter receive from him the usual oath of fealty, according to the form enclosed, and shall send it without delay by his own envoy to the pope by Richard's letters patent sealed with Richard's seal; without prejudice to the bishop of St. Andrews, to whom the said monastery is by ordinary right subject… Cum nos nuper. The like, for William Byller, clerk, of the diocese of York, married to one wife, a virgin, and in his twenty-third year, the said office to be conferred on him as soon as he reaches his twenty-fifth year, if he be found fit after examination, etc. The pope grants him special indult hereby to exercise the office before any ecclesiastical judges or commissaries, of any dignity; with the form of oath, as usual. 1471. Prid. Kal. June. (31 May.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 278.)	To the dean of Raphoe. Mandate, if the facts be as stated by them, to grant to Dermit Idurnyn and Dermit Megillacsbuig, brothers of the Third Order of St. Francis, called the Order of Penance, licence to erect (fn. 6) the place of Kyllotomnayr in the diocese of Raphoe, belonging to the brethren of the said Order in Ireland, into a house of that Order, with church, bell-tower, cemetery, cloister, dormitory, refectory, gardens, orchards, (fn. 7) and other necessary offices. In the event of the above dean's granting such licence, the pope hereby grants indult to all the brethren of the said Order who shall dwell in the said house to enjoy all papal and other privileges, immunities etc., which have been granted to the said Order and its houses.
