To the abbot of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul and St. Mary, Lisgabail, in the diocese of Clogher, and William Magugyr and Thomas Ofergallyd, canons of Clogher. Mandate to collate and assign to Cornelius Ocathasaid, perpetual vicar of the secular and collegiate church of St. Lasarrianus de Damynis in the diocese of Clogher, who is a priest, and whom the pope hereby absolves from all sentences of excommunication etc. as far only as regards the taking effect of these presents, the priorship of the said church, a principal dignity with cure, to which are annexed the possessions or lands of Fanagram and of Gartcharia, called ‘Collidei,’ and whose value, together with that of the said annexes, does not exceed 4 marks sterling, void by the death of John Megugyr, and reserved under the pope's late reservation of all principal dignities in collegiate churches, and also so long void that by the Lateran statutes its collation has lapsed to the apostolic see, summoning and removing Peter Oflannagan, clerk, of the said diocese, who without any canonical title has unduly detained possession for more than a year, but less than two years; notwithstanding that Cornelius holds the said perpetual vicarage, value [likewise] not exceeding 4 marks sterling, which he is, as he has offered, to resign upon obtaining the priorship. Mandate, at the recent petition of Simon Cantwel, clerk, of the diocese of Lismore (containing that on the voidance of the archdeaconry of Cashel by the death of Richard Hedyan, John (fn. 2) archbishop of Cashel made collation and provision of it by his ordinary authority to the said Simon, who in virtue thereof obtained possession and at present holds it, but now doubts their validity), to collate and assign to Simon (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of unmarried parents, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold two or three or more compatible benefices with or without cure, even if canonries and prebends, dignities etc. and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleased, and hold instead four other compatible benefices, all of whose benefices and their value and his dispensations the pope holds to be [sufficiently] expressed by these presents, and whom the pope hereby absolves from all sentences of excommunication etc. as far only as regards the taking effect of these presents) the said archdeaconry, a non-major, non-elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 30 marks sterling. To the prior of St. Thomas the Martyr's by Buttevant (juxta Butoniam) in the diocese of Cloyne (Clonen.), and Patrick Okyelare and John Porsel, canons of Cloyne. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Thomas Oronan, treasurer of Lismore, that Alan (Aulanus) Olonchye, precentor of Limerick, a public and notorious fornicator, has dilapidated and alienated and uselessly consumed the possessions of the precentorship, and has made a division of its fruits and given one part of them, by a simoniacal bargain, to Patrick Corra, priest, of the diocese of Lismore), if Thomas (who from fear of Alans's power has no hope of obtaining justice in the city and diocese of Limerick) accuses Alan before the above three, to summon Alan, and if they find the above to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the precentorship, a non-major dignity with cure, value not exceeding 50 marks sterling, to Thomas; whether it become void by such deprivation, or be void by the death of Alan Meckynery, or by his resignation, or that of the said Alan Olonchye, or in any other way, and notwithstanding that Thomas holds the said treasurership, a non-major, non-elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 10 marks sterling, with which he is hereby dispensed to receive and retain the precentorship for life, and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases, and hold instead two other incompatible benefices, provided that they be not two parish churches or perpetual vicarages or major or principal dignities or one of each. 4 Kal. Oct. (28 Sept.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 236.)	To the bishop of Kilfenora (Fynoboren.), Donald Ochuynd, canon of Kilfenora and Thomas Obrueyn, canon of Tuam. Mandate, as below. The recent petition of Denis Micgillavanach, priest, of the diocese of Kilmacduagh (Duacen.), contained that formerly (after he had been dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman related in the second and second degrees of affinity, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure; and after the present pope had by other letters ordered provision to be made to him of a benefice (fn. 4) with or without cure, even if a canonry and prebend, dignity etc. in the collation etc. of the bishops and the provosts and chapters etc. of Kilmacduagh and Annadown, dispensing him by the same letters to hold such benefice) on the voidance, by the death of Denis's father, of the provostship of Kilmacduagh, a nonmajor dignity with cure, and of the perpetual vicarage of Kilyle in the said diocese, after which voidance they had been united by authority of the ordinary, he by false and fraudulent means (fn. 5), in order that he might not seem to succeed immediately to his said father, accepted them within the lawful time and got provision made to him thereof, under pretext of the said letters, and under pretext of such acceptance and provision has detained them for more than two years, but less than three, taking the fruits meanwhile, although few. Seeing that, as the pope has learned, the archdeaconry of Kilmacduagh is void by the death of Thomas Macgillavanach, the pope (hereby rehabilitating the said Denis on account of irregularity contracted by the foregoing, and absolving him from all sentences of excommunication etc. as far only as regards the taking effect of these presents) orders the above three to collate and assign to him the said archdeaconry, a non-major, elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 14 marks sterling; whether it be void as stated, or because the said Thomas held along with it, without dispensation, the [perpetual] vicarage of Kyldanphy (rectius Kyldaruphy) (fn. 6) and the rectory of the parish church of Duncalloyn, in the said diocese, or be void by the death of Maurice Macgillavanach, or by the said Maurice or the late Nicholas Odugylla's obtaining another benefice by authority of the ordinary, or by the resignation of the said Thomas, Maurice and Nicholas, or any other, or be void in any other way. (containing that on the voidance by the death of Denis Macgillavanach of the provostship of Kilmacduagh and the perpetual vicarago of Kylyille in the said diocese, Denis bishop of Kilmacduagh, on account of the poverty of the fruits of the said provostship and other causes, united in perpetuity thereto, with consent of the chapter, the said vicarage by his ordinary authority) if they find the said union to have been lawfully made, to confirm it, and in that event to collate and assign the said provostship, which is a non-major, non-elective dignity with cure, and whose net value, with that of the said united vicarage, does not exceed 4 marks sterling, to the said Rory, who is a priest and who was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of a deacon and an unmarried woman related in the second and second degrees of affinity, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, after which he had himself so promoted and obtained the said vicarage of Newtown collated to him by papal authority, and whom the pope hereby absolves from all sentences of excommunication etc. as far only as regards the taking effect of these presents, and specially dispenses to receive and hold the said provostship and annex, notwithstanding the said defect etc., but whom he requires, upon obtaining possession of them, to resign the said vicarage of Newtown. 1451[–2]. Prid. Id. Feb. (6 Feb.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 253d.)	To the bishop of Spoleto, and the abbot of Monasteranenagh (de Magio) and the prior of Rathgeyll, in the diocese of Limerick. Mandate as below. The recent petition of Denis alias Donald Ofelan, clerk, of the diocese of Cloyne (Clonen.), contained that on the voidance of the chancellorship of Limerick by the resignation of Patrick Ymuorhyle, made to and admitted by John bishop of Limerick by his ordinary authority, the said bishop made collation and provision thereof to the above Denis, without his having obtained any dispensation on account of illegitimacy as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, in virtue of which collation and provision he obtained possession and still unduly detains it, but without taking any fruits therefrom. The said collation and provision being therefore without force, and the chancellorship still void as above, the pope (hereby rehabilitating on account of irregularity contracted the said Denis who lately, before the said collation and provision, had himself made a clerk without mentioning the said defect, and who has studied in the university of Oxford canon and civil law for ten years) hereby orders the above three to collate and assign to him the said chancellorship, a non-major, non-elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 60 marks sterling; whether it be void as above, or by the successive deaths of William Ymuolcorkia or Henry Burnam or Donald Ydeay, or in any other way.
