1447. 18 Kal. July. (14 June.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 36.)	To Denis Otyernayd, a monk of the Cistercian monastery of St. Mary, Corcomroe (de Petra fertili), in the diocese of Kilfenora (Finnaboren.). Dispensation to him, who is a priest, to hold (notwithstanding his illegitimacy as the son of a priest, a professed monk of the above order, and an unmarried woman) a benefice with or without cure wont to be governed by monks of the above monastery, value not exceeding 30 marks sterling, in the gift of the abbot and convent, even if an administration or office, elective and with cure, provided that such office be not claustral. Ibid (fn. 2). (f. 79.)	To Gilbert Makdonyl, perpetual vicar of Kirkmaiden in Rhinns (S. Medane in Lyrennis), of the Premonstratensian order, in the diocese of Whiteherne. Reservation to him (who was formerly dispensed by papal authority, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice with cure wont to be governed by canons of the Premonstratensian monastery of Saulseat (Sedis animarum) in the above diocese; who, after making his profession in the said order, and after the said dispensation, had himself promoted to all holy orders and obtained the vicarage of the above church, which is united to the abbatial mensa of the said monastery and whose cure has been wont to be exercised by a vicar, a canon of the monastery; and who for the exercise of the said cure, although the parish is very populous and is about eight Italian miles round (fn. 3), receives only 3l. sterling a year from the abbot) of a benefice with or without cure, to be held by him in commendam, wont to be governed by canons of the church of Whiteherne or of the monastery of Holywood (Sacri nemoris) in the diocese of Glasgow, of the said order, in the gift of the bishop and the prior and chapter of Whiteheme and the abbot and convent of Holywood respectively, even if a priorship etc. or office, provided that such priorship be not conventual nor such office claustral, value not exceeding 25 marks sterling in parts where the old taxation of the tenth has been reduced to half, or 18 in other parts. 9 Kal. May. (23 April.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 151d.)	To Richard Clepham, priest, of the diocese of St. Andrews, bachelor of canon law. Dispensation to him, who is a member of the household of James, king of Scots, to hold for life two benefices with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if major or principal dignities etc., and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases, provided that he do not hold two parish churches or their perpetual vicarages.Litterarum etc. (A. and Jo. de Millinis. \| A. xxxii. de Feletis.) 1446[–7]. 14 Kal. April. (19 March.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 160.)	To John de Alchecay, perpetual vicar of Stangeth in the diocese of Dunblane. Decree as below. He was dispensed on account of his illegitimacy as the son of unmarried parents, first by authority of the ordinary to the promoted to minor orders and hold a benefice without cure, and subsequently by papal authority (after he had been made a clerk and had obtained a perpetual chaplaincy at the altar of St. Laurence in the parish church of Streulyn in the diocese of St. Andrews, value not exceeding 3l. sterling) to be promoted to all other, even holy orders and hold any benefices with and without cure, of any number and kind, compatible with one another and with the said chaplaincy, even if canonries and prebends and major or principal dignities etc. Subsequently (after he had obtained by canonical collation the above vicarage of Starigeth [sic], value not exceeding 6l. sterling) Eugenius IV, at the petition of James, king of Scots and John's own, dispensed him, on 10 Kal. March (20 Feb.) anno 16 [1447], to hold for life with the said vicarage one other, or without it two other benefices with cure or otherwise incompatible etc., and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleased. The pope hereby decrees that pope Eugenius's said dispensation shall hold good, notwithstanding that by reason of his death the letters thereof were not drawn up, and that these presents shall suffice as proof. Ibid. (f. 178d.)	To Thomas Wode, rector of Dekylburgh in the Fields (in Campis), in the diocese of Norwich. A like decree to him, who is of noble race, and for the same reason, in regard to the dispensation granted to him by Eugenius IV on Non. March (7 March) anno 13 [1444], notwithstanding that pope's ordinance to the contrary [see Cal. Lett. IX., p. 5], to hold for life with the above church, value not exceeding 20l. sterling, any other benefice with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if another parish church etc., and to resign both, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleased. Collation and provision to him (who is a chaplain of James, king of Scotland, and was sent by him as his envoy to the apostolic see, and is proctor in the Roman court of the chancellor of the bishop of Glasgow and other servants of the realm of Scotland) of a canonry of Aberdeen, with reservation of a prebend and a dignity, personatus administration or office thereof, and of a benefice with or without cure, wont [to be assigned to secular clerks, in the collation etc. of…]. Litterarum sciencia, vite… beneficium ecclesiasticum cum cura vel sine cura consuetum, with which word the text, which fills the lower half of the page, and is cancelled with strokes, without note, breaks off. 1447. 3 Id. Nov. (11 Nov.) St. Peter's Rome. (f. 297.)	To the abbots of Inishlounaght (de Surio) and Meythil, and the prior of St. Thomas the Martyr's by Buttevant (juxta Bothoniam), in the dioceses of Lismore and Cloyne (Clonen.). Mandate (the pope having been informed by John Pursell, clerk, of the diocese of Limerick, that David Oflaynn, precentor of Lismore and Richard Ohedian, a canon of Cloyne, have publicly kept concubines in their own houses, that they have dilapidated and converted to the uses of themselves and the said concubines and their offspring the fruits and goods of the said precentorship and of the said canonry and the prebend of Killmedonok, and that David has committed perjury and Richard simony) if and after the said John accuses them, to summon them, and if they find the above to be true, to deprive and remove them, and in that event to collate the precentorship, which is a nonmajor dignity with cure, and the canonry and prebend, value not exceeding 20 and 12 marks of silver respectively, to the said John, who is by both parents of noble birth.Vite etc. (An. and F. de Laude. \| An. xxv.
