April 4. Grant to Mich. Cole and others, of lands and tenements in Standrobe, in the diocese of Durham. [Ibid., p. 68.]
April 7.

Lothbury.
5. Sir Maurice Berkeley to Sir Thos. Lake. Will not importune him in reference to the pardon. Earnestly commends Dr. Eglionby to the deanery of Winchester or parsonage of Islip, Oxfordshire, likely to be void by the promotions of the Bishop of Gloucester to London, and of the Dean of Winchester to Gloucester.
April 14.
Malvern.
6. Francis Godwin, Bp. of Llandaff, to the Same. Begs his interest to procure him the Archdeaconry of Gloucester, vacant by preferment of the Bishop of Gloucester to the see of London. It is worth 80£. a year, and he offers Sir Thomas 80£. for his interest.
April 15. 7. Earl of Salisbury to the Same. Has been to take a last look at Theobalds, before it passes into the King's hands. The owners of the neighbouring land are to meet him in London, to compound for enlarging the park. The Earls of Suffolk, Worcester, and Southampton met him at Hatfield, to discuss the site of his future habitation there. Will fulfil the King's commands as to the exchange of Farnham with Lord Montague. The Spanish Ambassador's affair to be postponed. Good tidings from the mines in Scotland.

April 16. 9. Earl of Salisbury to Sir T. Lake. Sends the agreement between the Archduke and States of Holland. Hopes the King is better. If his religion be objected, he is one of 20,000 Catholics in England, good subjects; - if his marriage, the Earl of Devonshire made a similar one;-if it be that he assumes his titles abroad, so do the Earl of Westmoreland and others at home, and he has fully proved his title.
