XXI.–XXIII.—Nos. 48, 49, and 50 HOXTON SQUARE.

General description of structure.

No. 48 consists of two-storey double-fronted premises with basement, and attic in a tiled roof with dormer windows. The exterior is in brick, with the windows divided into small panes, the frames being flush with the wall. A plain band marks the level of the first floor, with a similar band above the windows. The centre doorway has a lattice-work porch of good proportions, with a concave pent roof (Plate 69). Within, the walls have square deal panelling finished with a moulded cornice. The staircase has a moulded close string with turned balusters and square newels (Plates 65 and 66).

Nos. 49 and 50 are similar in treatment, with a pantile roof over the dormers. These premises were designed for one occupation, but are now divided, and have an additional staircase and entrance doorway to No. 50.
