Jenkins's Bill.
The Lord Lawarr reported from the Lords Committees, the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable John Jenkins Esquire to sell Lands, in the Counties of Durham and Northumberland, for Payment of Debts charged thereupon," as fit to pass, without any Amendment.
Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to enable John Jenkins Esquire to sell Lands, in the Counties of Durham and Northumberland, for Payment of Debts charged thereupon."
The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"
It was Resolved in the Affirmative.
ORDERED, That the Commons have Notice, that the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.
Hassel et al. versus Sir T. Knatchbull:
After hearing Counsel, at the Bar, upon the Petition and Appeal of Anne Hassell Widow, Administratrix cum Testament. annexat. of Roger West Esquire, who was Administrator of Elianor his late Wife, One of the Daughters and Heirs of Sir John Knatchbull Baronet, deceased, and Sir Charles Lodowick Cotterel, the only surviving Trustee, from an Order of Dismission made in the Court of Chancery in May last, on the Behalf of Sir Thomas Knatchbull; praying the Reversal of the said Order of Dismission: As also upon the Answer of Sir Thomas Knatchbull put in thereunto; and due Consideration of what was offered thereupon:
Judgement affirmed.
It is ORDERED and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition and Appeal of Anne Hassell Widow, and Sir Charles Lodowick Cotterel, shall be, and is hereby, dismissed this House; and that the Decree, or Order of Dismission, therein complained of, shall be, and is hereby, affirmed.
Queen's Answer, concerning Sir C. Shovel's Instructions;
The Lord Great Chamberlain reported Her Majesty's Answer, to the Address relating to Sir Cloudesley Shovell's Instructions, given him upon his last Summer's Expedition into The Mediterranean; (videlicet,)
Her Majesty said, "She would be sure to give Order to have them laid before this House."
and concerning Papers relative to the Scotch Conspiracy.
Then the Duke of Bolton reported Her Majesty's Answer to the Address, in relation to the Scotch Papers; (videlicet,)
"I have ordered such Papers to be laid before you, according to your Desire in this Address, as are now ready; and would have ordered them at first, had I imagined they would have been expected: But some of the Particulars being contained in Letters written to Myself, which will require a little Time to be extracted, and others being in the Hands of the Secretary of Scotland, I am not yet able to make a full Answer to your Address; but you shall have a more particular Answer, with all convenient Speed."
Answers to Observations of the Commissioners of Accompts.
Mr. Henry Baker, at the Bar, delivered his Answer to so much of the Report of the Observations of the Commissioners of Accompts as concerns him; and then withdrew.
The Lord Grey Werke brought into the House Mr. John Knight's Answer to the Observations of the Commissioners of Accompts.
The late Commissioners for sick and wounded Seamen, at the Bar, delivered their humble Answer to the Observations of the Commissioners of Accompts; and then withdrew.
