Grant that the appropriation to them of the church of Ouston, in the diocese of Lincoln, shall have effect, notwithstanding that on its falling vacant by the resignation of Ralph de Gasburn (Gisburn), the last rector, it was claimed by William de Navesby, archdeacon of Chester, against whom they litigated in the papal court and recovered possession. Subsequently William made further claims, and they, fearing further destruction of their goods, unduly bound themselves and the monastery to William in certain sums of money, on which he resigned the church.
