Declaration touching the subdeanery, canonry, and prebend of York, held by the late Master Pandulph de Sabello, papal notary and chaplain, provision of which has been made under papal reservation to Neapoleo Orsini (de filiis Ursi), to whose possession of the same opposition has been made by John Arundell, asserting that he was canon of York with expectation of a prebend. John occupied the prebend, and says that as Pandulph absented himself from the Roman court his benefices could not be treated as those of a member of it. Question having arisen between John and Neapoleo's proctor, an agreement was made to consult the pope, the fruits of the prebend being meanwhile held by the dean. The pope declares that as Pandulph was always his chaplain and notary, and had licence to reside outside the Roman court, his benefices come under the papal reservation.
