The vision of St. Egwin, bishop of Worcester, the privilege of Constantine, and the donations of kings Kenred and Offa are quoted. The monastery is to be exempt from episcopal jurisdiction, but under the protection (tutela) of the archbishop of Canterbury; the abbot is to take his place in synod next after the bishop, to whom due reverence and honour is to be shown.
