APPENDIX II.
Sept. 24. Minutes of the Senate, Venetian Archives. 1. Instructions to all commanders at sea.
The English bertons have been so troublesome that we have been forced to approach the King on the matter. He has now given orders that all English vessels meeting the fleet of the Republic shall strike their foretopsail and send their boat aboard. All vessels obeying these orders and proving to be bonâ fide merchantmen are to be treated well. All pirates are to be seized.
