Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for confirming the Invention and Manufacture of Glass Bottles, and for preventing of Frauds and Abuses in the Making and public Vending thereof."
Report of the Conference concerning the Bill for repairing Streets in Westm. &c.
The Lord Chancellor reported the Effect of the Conference Yesterday with the House of Commons, concerning the Alterations and Provisos made by this House in the Bill for repairing the Highways and Streets in and about Westm.
"The House of Commons agree to most of the Alterations sent from this House; but to these Particulars following they do not agree:
"1. They desire that these Words ["according to the Standard"] may be added to that Clause which enjoins the Coach-horses to be Fourteen Hand full high.
"2. They do not agree for reducing the Number of Hackney Coaches to Three Hundred: but adhere to the Number of Four Hundred.
"3. They do not agree to that Clause, that no Cart shall stand across in the Streets when they are unlading.
"4. They do not agree to the Proviso concerning Exceter House.
"5. They do not agree to the Proviso concerning Lay-stalls.
The House, upon Consideration had of these Particulars, agreed with the House of Commons in them all, excepting to the Proviso touching Exceter House, to which their Lordships do adhere.
ORDERED, To have a Free Conference with the House of Commons, to acquaint them with their Lordships Resolutions herein.
Message to H. C. for a Conference about the Bill for Uniformity of Worship.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Moundeford Brampston and Sir Nathaniell Hobart:
To desire a present Conference, in the Painted Chamber, concerning the Act of Uniformity.
The Lord Chancellor, the Earl of Bridgwater, and the Bishop of London, were appointed to manage this Conference.
Heads for it.
The House directed, that the Book of Common Prayers, recommended from the King, shall be delivered to the House of Commons, as that being the Book to which the Act of Uniformity is to relate; and also to deliver the Book wherein the Alterations are made, out of which the other Book was fairly written; and likewise to communicate to them the King's Message, recommending the said Book; and lastly, to let the Commons know, "That the Lords, upon Consideration had of the Act of Uniformity, have thought fit to make some Alterations, and add certain Provisos, to which the Concurrence of the House of Commons is desired."
Tenants of Rannes, &c. Bill.
ORDERED, That the Committee for the Bill which concerns the Tenants of Rannes do meet on Monday Morning next, at Nine of the Clock.
ORDERED, That the Committee for the Bill concerning the Poor do meet this Afternoon, at Four of the Clock.
Nevill's Bill.
Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act to enable the Trustees of Henry Nevill Esquire to sell certain Manors, Lands, and Tenements, in the Counties of Yorke and Leycester, for Payment of his Son William Nevill's Debts; and likewise to confirm and strengthen the Sale of such Lands as they have already sold in the County of Yorke."
The Question being put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"
It was Resolved in the Affirmative.
Answer from H. C.
The Messengers sent to the House of Commons return with this Answer:
That they will give a Conference, as is desired.
Message to H. C. for a Conference about the Bill concerning repairing Streets in Westm. &c. and to remind them of a Bill.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Mundeford Brampston and Sir Nathaniell Hobart:
To desire a present Free Conference, in the Painted Chamber, concerning the Matter of the last Conference, touching the Bill for mending the Streets in Westm.
Also to put them in Mind of the Bill concerning the Fens.
The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and the Lords went to the Free Conference; which being ended, the House was resumed.
Tindall's Bill.
The Lord Hunsdon reported, "That the Committee have considered of the Bill concerning Francis Tindall, and have heard all Parties concerned therein, who consent to the passing of the said Bill; whereupon the Opinion of the Committee is, That the same pass, without any Amendment or Alteration."
Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for the settling certain Lands, belonging to Francis Tindall Gentleman, upon Trustees, to be sold, for the Payment of Debts."
The Question being put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"
It was Resolved in the Affirmative.
Pilchard Fishery Bill.
Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for the regulating of the Pilchard Fishing, in the Counties of Devon and Cornwall."
Sheriffs Accompts Bill.
ORDERED, That the Committee for the Bill concerning Sheriffs shall meet To-morrow in the Afternoon, at Three of the Clock.
Lords Leave to be absent.
ORDERED, That this House dispenses with the Absence of the Earl of Dover and Lord Rockingham.
