Warrant by Treasurer Godolphin to the Customs Commissioners to admit to entry the lading of the East India Company's ship Rochester richly laden from the Bay of Bengal and safely arrived in the Thames at Woolwich after many hazards but which by reason of the weather cannot be brought up higher, the Customs officers refusing to admit her to entry on pretence that the purser has been out of the ship because as usual he landed at Falmouth to bring up the pacquet and further allege that four pieces of muslins have been run out of the ship at Portsmouth: against which the East India Company represent the danger the cargo is under by the severity of the weather which [danger] is daily growing on them, several ships having been cut to pieces and sunk by the ice in the late frost. | ||||
