Same dated Windsor Castle to Sir James Montague, Solicitor General, to prepare a great seal to constitute Miles Granger gent as Receiver General of Crown Revenues for North Wales (Anglesea, Carnarvon, Merioneth, Denbigh, Flint & Montgomery) & the County Palatine of Chester loco Daniel Peck whose patent is hereby to be revoked. Letter of direction for 977l. 10. 0 to the Paymaster of the Works: to be paid over to Joseph Roberts, plumber, for great lead pipes laid in his late Majesty's reign for the fountains in Hampton Court Gardens & which by her present Majesty's directions are now taken up and applied by the Principal Officers of the Works in laying the main that brings the water from the Head in Bushey Park to the Wilderness Wall (which [main at present] is now wood & rotting every day) in substantial lead & [is] valued by the said officers of the Works at the said sum. Christopher Tilson (in the absence of William Lowndes) to Mr. Brewer to attend the Lord Treasurer at Windsor on Monday next with an account of the money remaining in your hands as late Receiver for Prizes & to what services same is due to be paid & for what reasons the said services are not yet satisfied. Royal warrant dated Windsor Castle to the Clerk of the Signet for a privy seal for 300l. per an to Elizabeth Hales as a Maid of Honour: to be payable quarterly as from Lady day last: but she to pay out of her first quarter to Christiana Temple now wife of Thomas Littleton Esq (whom the said Elizabeth Hales did succeed as Maid of Honour,) so much as is due to the said Temple from Lady day last to the day of her marriage. J. Taylour (in the absence of William Lowndes) to the Navy Commissioners to report on the enclosed papers relating to the proceedings of John Brydger, Surveyor General of her Majesty's Woods &c in America. What is reasonable to be allowed him on his demands for deputies, horse hire & other incidents as therein?
Appending: titles of the said several papers: (a) said Brydger's representation: (b) bond given to said Brydger by John Mico, merchant, in 2000l. to save him harmless of all damage relating to cutting & felling masts more than 24 inches diameter: (c) 6 bills drawn by said Brydger payable to George Wilcocks for 45l., 41l., 40l., 100l., 50l., & for 350 days at 15s. a day: (d) two receipts from Ichabed Plaisted for 25l. each: (e) a receipt from Richard Gerrish for 45l.: (f) deposition of Nicholas Gillson et al against John Plaisted [for] cutting mast above size: (g) Mr. Collins' contract on which they ground their reasons for cutting 38 inch masts or bigger: (h) deposition of Capt. Robert Eason et al: (i) certificate of the charge of horse hire: (j) copy of dimensions given by Plaisted to Robert Coffin to cut masts by: (k) an account of the number & dimensions of masts cut by Plaisted without the royal licence, seized for her Majesty's service: (l) Mr. Plaisted's oath & petition of Mico Lechemore: (m) deposition of John Brydger: (n) Mr. Dudley's letter to my Lord Treasurer. William Lowndes to the Navy Commissioners for an estimate of what you conceive is annually saved to the public in the affairs of the Navy by dead men's pay (or otherwise) not claimed at all or for which no legal titles are produced. Out Letters (General) XVIII, p. 451.
Aug. 3. Treasury reference to Mr. Brydges & the Comptrollers of Army Accounts of the petition of Charles Medlicot, Commissary General of Provisions for her Majesty's Forces in Portugal, shewing that his pay was to commence from 9 Jan 1705–6, being the date of his commission, but that upon his arrival in Portugal [he found that] his predecessor had by Lord Galway's order received pay to 24 April 1706 from which time petitioner was put on the Establishment, but towards this arrear of 157l. 10. 0 petitioner has been ordered 100l. by Lord Galway out of Contingencies: therefore praying payment of the balance of 57l. 10. 0 and the further sum of 135l. for rent, candle, books &c and to be considered for his charges in coming over to solicit provisions for the army. Warrant by Treasurer Godolphin dated Windsor Castle to the Salt Commissioners to mark all barrels of beef & pork brought in as prize for which no Duties are payable so as to prevent any allowance [of drawback] upon exportation.

Same by same to the Customs Commissioners to pay 599l. 19. 10 for fees on noli prosequi's to the informations against goods brought from Scotland before 1 May 1707.
Prefixing: report by Sir Simon Harcourt, late Attorney General dated 1707–8 Feb 10 in reply to the reference of Jan 5 last ut supra, p. 55. I am informed by Hen Stevens the present Deputy [Queen's] Remembrancer [in the Exchequer Court] & Richard Barker that the said fees are agreeable to the ancient fees & usual allowances. Same by same to the Clerk of the Pipe for a fresh lease to Thomas Beake senr of a half acre of land anciently called the Waterhouse messuage & parcel of the close called the Six Acres situated in or near Mulghay alias Dogfeild in the parishes of St James's & St Martins in the Fields abutting north 202 feet on the messuage & garden of Roger Looker & east 104 feet on the ancient little street leading from Piccadilly towards the village of Marylebone now called King Street & extending 104 feet on that side; & south 238 feet on the great ancient street leading to Marylebone called Beak Street & west 136 feet on the street called Swallow Street.

Same by same to the Clerk of the Pipe for a lease to Richard Bligh (for 99 years terminable on the lives of him, Elizabeth Bligh his aunt & Charles Bligh his brother) of the capital messuage or scite of the manor of Tynten & several closes of land detailed in the said manor in the parish of St Udy alias Tudy, Co Cornwall: which premises fell unto the Crown by the death of John Bligh 22 Nov 1705.

Letter of direction for 372l. to Spencer Compton: to satisfy the royal warrant for compensation to the corporation of Windsor for damage in their bridge toll & lands by the building of Datchet Bridge supra p. 327 & [to meet the] two warrants by the Lord Treasurer of July 28 last, supra, p. 336, for royal bounty to persons therein mentioned. Same to the Auditors of Imprests to draft a privy seal to authorise the passing the accounts of the Commissioners for Transports “with the allowance of all the sums contained in the Discharge part thereof except [the items of] loss in tale of money & overpayments to masters of ships.” Ibid., p. 454.
