A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Clement Throckmorton, &c.; who brought up Two Orders, wherein they desire their Lordships Concurrence:

1. An Order for One Thousand Pounds, for to buy a Jewel for Mrs. Lane. (Here enter it.)

Read, and Agreed to.

2. An Order for Fourteen Hundred Pounds for the maimed Soldiers. (Here enter it.)

Read, and Agreed to.

The Answer returned was:

That this House agrees with the House of Commons in these Two Orders now brought up.

Hatfield Level Bill.

Upon Report of the Duke of Bucks, "That the Committee for the Bill of Hatfeild have made a Progress in hearing the Parties on both Sides; but the Commoners desire longer Time, which cannot now be, in regard of the Shortness of Time: Therefore the Opinion of the Committee is, That an Order of this House may be granted, to quiet the Possession as now it is, to prevent Riots and Disorders, till it be decided by due Course of Law; and that the Sheriffs and the Justices of the Peace do take Order herein."

All which was ordered by the House accordingly.

Bill to confirm Marriages.

The Marquis of Dorchester reported from the Committee, the Bill for Confirmation of Marriages, as sit to pass, with some Alterations; which, being read Twice, were Agreed to.

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for confirming of Marriages."

And the Question being put, "Whether this Bill, with the Alterations now read, shall pass for a Law?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Sir E. Gostwick's Bill.

ORDERED, That the Committee for Sir Edw. Gostwicke's Bill do meet this Afternoon.

Bill for taking away the Court of Wards.

ORDERED, That the Earl of Pembrooke, Earl Midd. and the Lord Maynard, are added to the Committee concerning the Court of Wards.

Order to quiet the Possessions in Hatfield Level.

Upon Report this Day to the House, from the Committee appointed to consider of the Bill and Petitions concerning the Level of Hatfeild Chace, lying in the Counties of Yorke, Lyncolne, and Nottingham; "who have made some Progress in the Business, by hearing the Parties on all Sides, the Commoners within the said Level desiring further Time, which the Committee conceived could not be granted, in regard of the sudden Dissolution of this Parliament:" But, that the quiet Possession of the Seven Thousand and Four Hundred Acres in Controversy within the said Level might be continued in such Hands as have now the Possession of the same, it is ORDERED, by the Lords in Parliament assembled, That the quiet Possession of the said Seven Thousand and Four Hundred Acres, lying in the said Level of Hatfeild Chace, shall be continued in the Hands of the Participants, as it now is, until the Right of the Parties concerned be determined by due Course of Law; and that the several Sheriffs and Justices of Peace, in the respective Counties wherein the said Level lies, shall take special Care to prevent all Riots, Routs, and unlawful Assemblies, that shall be had or made in or upon the said Level, or any Part thereof, for or by reason of any Cause or Pretence of Right of any Person's Interest whatsoever; and to keep the Peace, according to the Laws of the Land, until the Right be determined as aforesaid: And all Parties any ways concerned in the Premises are to take Notice of this Order being published, and yield Obedience hereunto, as the contrary will be answered at their Perils.

Order for 1000£. to Mrs. Lane, for preserving the King.

ORDERED, by the Lords in Parliament assembled, That, as a Mark of Respect to Mrs. Lane, and in Testimony of the Parliament's high Resentment and Value of her Service, in being so signally instrumental to the Preservation and Security of the Person of His Royal Majesty, there be conferred upon the said Mrs. Lane the Sum of One Thousand Pounds, to buy her a Jewel; and that the same be, and hereby stands, charged on the Arrears of the Grand Excise, after the other Sums shall be satisfied, which are charged on the Grand Excise by former Order of this Parliament: And the Commissioners of the Excise for the Time being are hereby empowered and required to satisfy and pay the same accordingly; and this Order, together with the Acquittance or Acquittances of the said Mrs. Lane, or her Assigns, testifying the Receipt thereof, shall be a sufficient Discharge to the said Commissioners of Excise in that Behalf.

Order for 1400£. for maimed Soldiers.

"ORDERED, by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That the Sum of Fourteen Hundred Pounds be paid and satisfied, in full Discharge of all Demands for the wounded and maimed Soldiers and Widows in Ely House, and The Savoy; and that the same be charged upon the Arrears of the Excise and paid in Course; and the Commissioners of the Excise be, and are hereby, authorized and required to pay the same."

Thorowton L. Byron's Servant arrested.

Upon Complaint made, "That John Thorowton, menial Servant to the Lord Byron, is arrested, by Charles Blackamore, Bailiff, contrary to the Privilege of Parliament;" and the Lord Byron avowing the said Thoroughton to be his menial Servant:

Blackamore sent for.

It is ORDERED, That the said Thorowton shall be forthwith released of his Imprisonment; and Blackamore to be brought before this House To-morrow Morning, as a Delinquent. And the Under Sheriff of Midd. to appear before this House at the same (fn. 3) Time, for to give a further Account of this Business.

Rodney's Petition.

Upon reading the Petition of Sarah Rodney, Widow:

It is ORDERED, That her Petition is recommended to the Lord Chancellor, to proceed therein according to Justice and Equity.

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for taking away the Court of Wards and Liveries, and Tenures in Capite and by Knights Service, and Purveyance, and for settling a Revenue upon His Majesty in Lieu thereof."

And the Question being put, "Whether this Bill, with the Alterations and Provisos now read, shall pass for a Law?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Memorandum, Before the putting the aforesaid Question, these Lords following desired Leave to enter their Dissents, if the Question was carried in the Affirmative.
