It was the late King's pleasure that 100l. which should have been paid out of the Treasury for the use of the Greek youths at Oxford should be advanced in August 1701 out of the Vaudois money then in the hands of Sir William Ashurst for the defraying the passage of them and several French refugees to Virginia and that the same should be repaid the Xmas following. And the same was so advanced by said Ashurst to the Revd. Dr. Woodroff by virtue of a warrant dated 3 Aug. 1701 signed by us. Yet the same hath not been repaid to the said Ashhurst as was promised and intended although the same is wanting to pay for the passage of several of the said people to Virginia as aforesaid. These are to desire you to pay said 100l. to said Ashhurst. Ibid.
