The bills which Sir John Lambert agreed for on 31 July last are
to be sent by this night's post for Port Mahon. |

Mr. Milner and Sir John [Lambert] are to have notice to make
their several proposals for remitting 8,000l. for the Garrison of
Gibraltar. |
|
My Lord directs that the sum of 2,000l. which was directed to be imprested to Mr. Holbech in the three last weeks be applied by him
so far as it will extend for the satisfying the travelling charges of
last year to the servants of [the Household payable in the Office]
of the Chamber amounting to 1,832l. 11s. 11d. and further for a
quarter's allowance to the poor at the Gate 179l. 15s. 0d., making

The Governor and several of the Directors of the Bank of England
[are] called in. They acquaint his Lordship that they came to return
my Lord Treasurer thanks for paying to the Bank their two years'
Deficiencies and to enquire when and in what proportions the
Exchequer Bills will be issued, and to put his Lordship in mind of
the repayments of loans which they are to receive (according to
minutes for that purpose) out of the said Exchequer Bills. |

Lord Bingley [in reply informs them that he] will inform my Lord
Treasurer and desires them to send an exact list or account of what
is owing to the Bank on [security of tallies and orders] deposits and
how much thereof is (by the said minutes) to be repaid out of Exchequer Bills. |

They promise to send that account by to-morrow and withdraw. |
|
[Write to] Mr. Decker to attend next Thursday about remittances
for the Troops in Flanders. |
|
The proposals of Sir John Lambert and Mr. Milner for remitting
8,000l. for the Garrison at Gibraltar are opened and read (they both
being present) and Mr. Milner's appearing to be most advantageous
to the public is agreed unto: Sir John proposing 4,000l. at 10 days'
sight and 4,000l. at 20 days' sight at the exchange rate of 51½ pence
sterling per piece of Eight: [he by way of reimbursement] to be paid
[in cash] on delivery of his bills: and Mr. Milner [proposing] to
furnish the whole at sight at 4s. 3d. or 51 pence per piece of Eight. |

[Write to] Mr. Brydges to send an account of the salaries and allowances to the several Deputy Paymasters and Agents [abroad] under
