Mr. Sloper [is] called in. He acquaints my Lord that Mr. Brydges proposes to borrow 40,000l. upon tallies struck in his name on Malt Duties anno 1713 to complete 60,000l. directed the 17th June last for clearing up the services of her Majesty's Forces in the Low Countries to 24 June last. My Lord agrees that if the Bank will lend the said 40,000l. upon a deposit of tallies and orders struck in the name of the said Brydges on Malt anno 1713 the same shall be repaid to them within two months from the time of advancing it, together with 5 per cent. interest.
If Mr. Brydges shall have received more than 12,000l. in part of the 60,000l. directed for the uses abovementioned he is to give my Lord an account thereof [so] that so much of the 40,000l. which he is now to borrow may be applied to such other uses as my Lord shall appoint.
A memorial from Mr. Micklethwayte is read praying that the tallies for 53,101l. 19s. 7½d., which (pursuant to my Lord's directions of March 23 last, supra, p. 21) he assigned to Mr. Brydges upon a transfer to him of 60,000l. in South Sea Stock, may now be redeemed and delivered back to him on his [Micklethwayte's] re-assigning the said 60,000l. My Lord [on reading this memorial] directs that Mr. Brydges do deposit with the Bank so many of the tallies and orders for 55,000l. lately struck in his name on the Malt Duties anno 1713 as shall be sufficient to redeem the said tallies for 53,101l. 19s. 7½d. and [that thereupon he do] re-assign them to Mr. Micklethwayte on his [Micklethwayte's] transferring back to him, Brydges, the said 60,000l. South Sea Stock.
[My Lord directs the issue out of Civil List funds of] 1,000l. to Mr. Lowndes for secret service. Ibid., pp. 101–2.

My Lord Treasurer being acquainted by a memorial from Mr. Sloper (shewed to him by Mr. Secretary Harley) that the Bank have consented to lend the sum of 40,000l. which was yesterday proposed to be borrowed upon a deposit of tallies and orders struck in the name of Mr. Brydges on Malt Duties granted for the service of this year provided they may be allowed 6 per cent. interest and be repaid out of the first 500,000l. that shall be issued in Exchequer Bills: my Lord agrees thereunto. Mr. Cæsar, Treasurer of the Navy, having acquainted my Lord Treasurer that according to his direction he has attended the Bank of England in order to the borrowing of them a sum of 100,000l. upon a deposit of tallies and that they are willing to lend the same upon a deposit of 110,000l. in tallies and orders on this year's Malt Duties at an interest of 6 per cent. and to be repaid out of the first 500,000l. to be issued in Exchequer Bills, my Lord agrees thereunto and directs the Treasurer of the Navy to make the said deposit accordingly, in regard to the pressing occasions of the Navy and Victualling, to which the same is to be applied. My Lord having considered the several proposals of Sir John Lambert, Mr. Milner and Mr. Decker for remittances for the Troops in Flanders and finding that of Mr. Decker's, dated London July 8, to be most for her Majesty's advantage is pleased to agree thereto as follows, viz. “I am informed your Lordship is resolved to make a positive agreement for any sum or sums of money which your Lordship will resolve to remit within six months for Amsterdam. I humbly offer your Lordship my bill or bills for and upon Messrs. Andrew Pels & Sons from time to time within the said six months from the date hereof and for such sum or sums as your Lordship shall have occasion for at eight days' sight after the rate of 10 guilders 18 stivers per pound sterling: the value to be paid [to me in return in ready cash] at the delivery [by me] of the bills.”
A memorial is read from Mr. Brydges for 42,000l. upon account of subsistence of the Troops in Flanders to 21 Aug. next and to answer their demands for forage money to 22 Dec. 1712 pursuant to the Duke of Ormonde's warrants. My Lord Treasurer orders that Mr. Brydges do attend the Bank for a loan of the said 42,000l. upon [security of] a deposit of Malt tallies now in his hands for the service of the Forces and that he do forthwith pay over the same for bills to be taken from Mr. Decker upon the foot of his agreement abovementioned and send the said bills by an Officer that sets out to-morrow morning for Flanders. (according to the minute of the 11th inst.) upon a deposit of 46,200l. in tallies on Malt anno 1713 at 6 per cent. interest and to be repaid out of the first 600,000l. that shall be issued in Exchequer Bills, my Lord consents thereto and directs Mr. Brydges to make the said deposit accordingly.

Mr. Howe by his memorial of this day's date having acquainted my Lord Treasurer that pursuant to his directions he had applied to the Bank of England for a loan of 56,000l. by 10,000l. a week upon [security of] a deposit of Malt tallies, for the pay of the outpensioners [of Chelsea Hospital] to the 24th June last and that the Court of Directors had agreed thereunto provided they shall be repaid with interest at 6 per cent. out of the first 700,000l. to be issued in Exchequer Bills, my Lord consents thereunto and directs Mr. Howe to make the said deposit accordingly. A proposal from Sir John Lambert for remitting 12,000l. for the Garrison of Port Mahon is considered and agreed to as follows, viz. to give his bills for [upon] Port Mahon for 6,000l. at six days' sight and 6,000l. at 12 days’ sight at the exchange rate of 54 pence sterling per piece of Eight: “to be paid in gold or silver at the current rate in the said place and [for my reimbursement, the equivalent] to be paid me in Exchequer Bills.”
