William Lowndes to Auditor Harley. Col. Nicholson is commissioned to enquire into divers matters in North America [relating to the Canada Expedition &c., ut supra, pp. 447–8]. He has desired that such of the stores which were brought back by Mr. Nettmaker, who went as Commissary of Stores on the Expedition to Canada, and remain now in his [Nettmaker's] custody, may be ready to be shipped when he, Nicholson, shall receive orders to proceed on his voyage. My Lord Treasurer has agreed that same may be sold in North America to a much greater advantage for the public than they could be at any other market. Nettmaker is to accompany Nicholson. In order that the said remaining stores may be regularly charged it will be necessary that Nettmaker's account of stores be passed in due form. Please state same in order to speedy passing. Also please furnish Nicholson with copies of all accounts, papers and reports before you concerning the said Canada Expedition in order to his better information and help in his commission and consider of some scheme for taking of accounts [arising out of his inquiry] and instruct
