difficulty to know what moneys they are to reserve in their Receiver

Royal warrant to the Clerk of the Signet for a privy seal for an
additional allowance of 800l. per an. out of the Four and a Half per
cent. Duty to Sir Bevil Granville Governor of Barbados, to make his
salary 2000l. per an., which may make a competent maintenance
for that Governor without dependence on the people, whereby the
Assemblies of the said Island will be in a condition of applying those
large sums (which they usually give in presents by yearly levies to
their Governors) towards other public uses as may be most necessary
for the defence and safety of the Plantations : the Commissioners
for Trade and Plantations having by the Queen's direction laid
before her an account of the salaries which now are or might be
properly assigned to the respective Governors of the Plantations

Heathcote of London merchant, shewing that after the earthquake
at Jamaica which swallowed up the public store houses belonging
to the Crown the Governor prevailed with petitioner's brother to

rent and he has paid for the rent and charges thereof 115l. 10s. 0d. ;
that the Governor drew a bill [for same] on the Navy Commissioners
but they refuse to pay same, alleging the Governor to be no officer
of the Navy and that the hiring of storehouses was forbidden :

Duncombe being indebted to the Earl of Ranelagh, who (with the
executors of Mr. Toll) doth claim the money due on said bond : but the

Arabian tunes, an amber China ship with clock work, a suit of armour,
2 swords, 6 gun barrels, locks &c. to be made Morocco fashion, 3
pair of pistols, 2 telescopes, 2 double microscopes, 2 barometers,
2 concave burning glasses, &c). Ibid.
Warrant by Treasurer Godolphin to the Receiver of the Rights and
Perquisites of Admiralty to make the distribution of the profit of the
French prize ship Eagle and Crown to the owners, captain and
company of the Larke frigate which took the said ship without a letter
of marque ; Dr. Bramston, Surrogate to the Judge of the Admiralty
Court, having reported that during the late war such captures
without letters of marque have been as beneficial to the owners,
captain and company as if under letters of marque.
