The Admiralty Lords have this day proposed to change the form of a pass annexed to the treaty lately made with Algiers and in place thereof to use the form of a pass heretofore used in the former treaty with Algiers and those now in force with Tunis and Tripoli and that certain rules be observed for obtaining same. Hereof the King approved. The fees at the Admiralty for granting such passes are not to exceed 20s. | |||
Appending: rules for passes to be observed in pursuance of the treaty with Algiers: (1) to be granted only by the Admiralty (2) and only to English ships or ships naturalized, (3) whereof the master is a native or denizen and two-thirds the mariners natives. (4) The master to give bond in 50l. or 100l. to give up the pass on returning. (5) If in London port the ship to be first viewed and certified by the Surveyor of the Navigation Act.
