Domini tam Spirituales quam Temporales præsentes fuerunt:
King present.
His Majesty, being arrayed in His Regal Robes and Crown, attended with His Officers of State, ascended His Royal Throne (the Peers being also in their Robes); commanded the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod to signify to the Commons, "It is His Majesty's Pleasure, that they attend Him presently."
Who being come; the Lord Chancellor, by His Majesty's Command, said,
Commons directed to chuse a Speaker.
"My Lords and Gentlemen,
"I have it in Command from His Majesty, to let you know, that He will defer declaring the Causes of calling this Parliament, till there be a Speaker of the House of Commons.
"Therefore it is His Majesty's Pleasure, that the Gentlemen of the House of Commons repair to the usual Place where the Commons sit, and proceed to the Choice of a fit Person to be their Speaker, and present him here to His Majesty, for His Royal Approbation, on Friday Morning next, at Eleven of the Clock."
Then His Majesty was pleased to withdraw; and the Commons went to their House.
