Sept. 3. Same to the Agents for Taxes to report on the enclosed letter [missing] from Richard Parry, a surveyor of the Window Duty in Co. Anglesey. Ibid. p. 399.
Same to the Customs Commissioners. My Lords are informed that great quantities of gunpowder and shot &c. have been exported from Bristol by way of merchandise. Send them an account thereof for the years ended 1700 June 24 and 1701 June 24. Ibid.

Treasury warrant to the Customs Commissioners to establish 40l. per an. additional allowance to Nicholas Spencer, Collector of Customs at South Potomac in Virginia, in view of the hardship of his duty and the meanness of his salary being but 45l. per an. for himself and to keep a boat in that district. Out Letters (Customs) XIV, p. 142.
Same to the Surveyor General of Crown Lands for a particular of the house where the Countess du Roy is now lodged near St. James's in order to a lease thereof to Joost, Earl of Albemarle for 50 years, at a rent of 13s. 4d. and fine of 2250l.
Prefixing: report by said Surveyor. I could not view the house as the Countess was ill in bed and desired delay till Saturday when she expects the Earl of Feversham in town, alleging that her possession is under the Queen Dowager whose title she dare not prejudice. The present buildings are but mean and much incommoded by the back part of the houses in the Pall Mall which are almost contiguous thereto. Warrants not Relating to Money XVII, p. 123.

With regard to the King's pleasure to remit the plate to Lord Lexington please represent to the King that the Earls of Pembroke and Jersey actually performed each of them 2 embassies whereas Lord Lexinton was not at the Treaty of Ryswick and further that he has been already discharged of 3167 ounces of plate which he received out of the Jewel House on being appointed Ambassador to Spain. Treasury warrant to the Customs Commissioners to employ Benjamin Woodnoth, as keeper of the warehouse proposed at St. Helens [London] and Leadenhall for the goods of the Old East India Company; Ambrose Moor as same at the warehouse proposed at the Steel Yard for the goods of the New East India Company and William Clough as same at the Outroper's Office in the Exchange being the place proposed by the principal dealers in East India goods: all in view of the very near approach of the time for receiving the Prohibited East India goods into warehouses pursuant to the late Act of Parliament [9 and 10 Wm. III c. 44]: at 100l. per an. each: further to establish Luke King, Charles Mein and — Burgess, as Comptrollers under them: at 50l. per an. each. (A similar warrant on Sept. 25 for establishing Luke King in the place of Benj. Woodnoth who resigned same: and for Charles Walters to be Comptroller in the place of said King.) Sept. 23. Treasury reference to the Excise Commissioners of the petition of Anthony Phillips, brewer to the Navy, praying that 250l. in bills from the Victualling Office may be accepted towards 300l. which he owes for Excise. Reference Book VII, p. 435.
Report to the Lords Justices of England from the Treasury Lords concerning the blank left in Lord Cornbury's instructions viz. for his salary in New York. We find that the salary allowed to former Governors of that Province was 600l. per an. and we think the blank may be filled up with that figure. Warrants not Relating to Money XVII, p. 130.
Sept. 25. Letter of direction for 10,000l. to the Earl of Ranelagh: out of loans to be made by himself on the last part of the 3700l. per week: to be for the subsistence of the Forces sent to the assistance of the States General. Disposition Book XV, p. 321.

Sept. 26. Treasury warrant to the Trustees for sale of Fee Farm Rents to accept from the Earl of Dorset and Middlesex a surrender of divers rents in the manor or soke of Kirton co. Lincoln, part of the Duchy of Cornwall, and conveyed to him 1698–9 March 23, it being doubtful whether they are saleable as being part of a manor: and in lieu thereof to make him a reprisal of [out of other fee farms]. III arise from the officers and inhabitants of his Majesty's Dockyard [at] Hamoaze in said parish refusing to pay their assessments of 214l. 10s. 0d.
