Ireland for a grant to Thomas Ashe of Dublin of the King's title to
the moiety of the manor of Moone in the Barony of Kilkea and Moone
Co. Kildare claimed by the Crown by the attainder of James
Dempsey: to hold as of the Castle of Dublin in free and common
socage: he having purchased said moiety for 1000l. from Honora
Dempsey (widow of said James) and Thomas Dempsey (son of
said James); and the said lands by the [? eventual] death of said
Honora descended [? would descend] to said Thomas with remainders
to John, Charles and Nicholas Dempsey and under the said reversions there is a fee simple left in said James who is outlawed for
high treason; by reason whereof the said Ashe is advised that his
purchase may be insecure as the said James's fee simple may by
said attainder come [eventually] in the Crown; and it further
appearing that the said Ashe is a known Protestant and on that
account did suffer in the late times and was well affected to the

petitioned shewing that under the said patent of 1697–8 the estate
in Co. Clare of the late Visct. Clare is charged with the quit rent of
457l. 17s. 7¾d. which exceeds by 404l. 17s. 10¾d. the reduced rent
of 53l. 19s. 9d. due and payable only for that part of the said estate
which lies in Co. Clare; and similarly that the estate of Redmond
and Hugh Mullady is charged with the quit rent of 54l. 9s. 11d.
though their whole estate in Co. Westmeath (part whereof is already
granted to Thomas Keightley Esq. and part to Sir Thomas Domville)
was only charged at the time of its forfeiture with the yearly Crown
rent of 10s.: by all which the said Earl is deprived of the King's

represented about a year since that he had not then proceeded
further in the said grant, whereupon the King condescended to the
