valued at 2s. I do not find any lease renewed since 1660 nor any
profit to the Crown beyond the 4l. rent which is now very near the
annual value. The lease is for the benefit and support of petitioner's mother a poor blind woman and petitioner must assert the
King's title against a person who claims the premises in fee farm.

of Richard Miller, Customer of the Cloth Office in London port,
shewing that his predecessors in said office received a salary of 276l.
8s. 8d. per an. until the death of Mr. Warwicke, the predecessor of
James Halsey (who was petitioner's predecessor) when the salary was,
by my Lords, sunk to 5l. per an. on a report from the said Commissioners; that he has collected the Custom on cloth for 6 years
and finds "the collection to lessen the yearly income"; further
he is forced to give an allowance to a clerk and is obliged to make
good all moneys if brass or counterfeit coin and is like to lose 197l.
14s. 3½d. by the death of a clerk: therefore praying the ancient
salary or an augmentation to his present salary to commence from
