particular of the Hundred or Bailiwick of Mere, Co. Wilts (belonging
to the Duchy of Cornwall) in order to a lease thereof to Sir Matthew
Andrews for 31 years from Sept. 29 last at the old rent of 8l. 12s. 11d.

Prefixing: said Surveyor's report on said Andrews' petition for
same. The premises were granted in Charles I's time to Thomas
Fisher gent. for a term of years which expired during the late troubles
before 1660. They remained in [the Crown's] hand till 1666 and
no profit made thereof. On Dec. 8 1666 Sir Jno. Coventry obtained
a grant under the Exchequer seal for 31 years at the old rent as above.
This rent is unpaid for 5 years past. The profits of this Hundred or
Bailiwick were estimated by the Parliament's Surveyors in 1650 at
7l. 13s. 4d. per an. which was under the rent. They are worth less now,
but being a royalty (rather honourable than profitable) adjoining
to the petitioner's estate at Mere he is desirous to have a new lease.

of Benjamin Dennis shewing that he has in his time paid 30,000l. in
Customs; that about three years since he was summoned by the said
Commissioners to pay his debt and in order thereto paid 1000l.
in money and soon after delivered into their hands 90 butts of wine
worth about 1200l. which sank his debt to about 15,000l.; that in
his trade with Spain he hath met with great losses at sea which make
him unable to pay his debt: therefore praying stay of proceedings.

amounting to 780l. 10s. 6d. on that receipt but the Agents report
for him only 338l.; and that he was Receiver General for those
