June 1. The Customs Commissioners [called in]. [Resolved] to move for an order of Council for passing letters patent for establishing the Composition trade upon the limitations set down in the papers of the Customs Commissioners of April 13 and May 21 last and June 1st inst. : with such alterations and additions as the Lord Treasurer shall think fit and necessary : and a proclamation thereupon to give notice to merchants.
To know the King's pleasure whether the woollen manufacture shall pay 2 or 3 per cent.
"My Lord Treasurer to put into a way to treat with the city about the Scavadge and Package and with the patent officers [of the Customs of London port] about their fees."
An additional security to be taken of George Pley, senr., Collector of Weymouth, besides William Farre, for his future receipt from 1673, Dec. 24.

June 2. To know of the Lord Treasurer after what sum the 20,000l. for the Ordnance shall come in course on the sixth quarter [of the present Eighteen Months' tax].
Mr. Brewer to be sent for to give in a state of the London Excise to Midsummer next.
[Warrant for] 3,100l. odd to Sir Stephen Fox for Secret Service. To be [charged] on the contingencies of the fifth quarter [of the Eighteen Months' tax.]
The Farmers of the London Excise are to be summoned to Windsor on Friday morning next.
The Lord Treasurer to move the King that the Governor of Barbados may have order to see the Farmers' patent [for the farm of the Four and a Half per cent. duty in Barbados] and His Majesty's letter put in execution especially [that part thereof] relating to the weight of the sugars.
Mr. Banckes to pay in the money into the Exchequer claimed by Sir William Warren upon the accompt of the burnt ships at Hamburg [which account is] now remaining in the hands of Sir Tho. Player.

June 5. The Lord Treasurer directs a King's warrant to be drawn for 10,000 reams of paper to be brought over Custom free by Mr. Ogilby this year and another for 12,000 reams next year.
Write to Mr. Mounteney to pay into the Exchequer the sum of 16,000l. or thereabouts now remaining in his hands of the moneys of the Customs.

June 8. Letter of direction signed by Treasurer Latimer upon an order of Mr. Griffin's for 8,267l. drawn upon the fee farms. "Let the remainder of this order be satisfied" : which remainder was 3,909l. 8s. 6d. thus designed by the Lord Treasurer [to be distributed], viz. : 3,000l. to the Yeomen of the Guard for half-a-year to Midsummer next ; 700l. for the Band of Violins [said sum having been] formerly directed ; and the remaining 209l. 8s. 6d. to be kept in Mr. Griffin's hand till the Lord Treasurer dispose of it.
