of a grant to James Hamilton, one of the Grooms of the Bedchamber,
of all the yearly new quit rents payable to His
Majesty by virtue of the late Acts of Settlement and Explanation
or either of them out of or for any the honors, castles,
lordships, towns, manors, lands, tenements and hereditaments
in the realm of Ireland heretofore granted by letters patent of
24 Eliz., to Florence. Baron of Upper Ossory, and John
Fitzpatrick, his son, and the heirs male of said John with
several remainders as contained in said letters patent or as
mentioned in a deed of settlement made in 1612, and found in
an office taken after the death of said John Fitzpatrick in 1627 :
all which lands were set out to the officers and soldiers of
Col. Stuber's and Col. Abbott's regiments and are now held by
them or by others under them : the quit rents whereof do not
exceed 500l. per an. : and also of all new and ancient quit
rents due and payable to His Majesty and issuing out of any

their heirs in trust for the Earl of St. Albans and his heirs
of 604 acres or thereabouts of improved grounds lying within

which in Hilary Term 21-2 Car. II. were by the Exchequer
Court adjudged and decreed to be enjoyed by said Earl and his
heirs under a yearly rent of 20l., formerly payable for said
premises amongst other things.

Report to the King from Treasurer Clifford on the petition of
Richard, Viscount Ranelagh and William. Lord Brereton (as
by the order of reference of April 5 last in which they claim
8,397l. 2s. 4d. as due to them from your Majesty in right of
their wives as daughters and co-heirs of the late Francis, Lord
Willoughby of Parham. By your instructions of 1672 June 10,
to Lord Willoughby, present Governor of Barbados, payment
has been directed of the money due to the late Lord
Willoughby's daughter (therein computed at about 6,000l.)
next after the payment of the arrears due to the regiment
late under Sir Tobias Bridge As they have been several years
out of their money tallies may be granted on them the four and a
half per cent. payable at Barbados, one moiety after 5,000l.
shall be paid to said regiment and the remainder when the
whole arrears of said regiment have been disharged.
Together with :A later note date June 17, to the effect that
Auditor Beale certifies the amount as above to be 8,397l. 2s. 4d.

July 24, the Trustees of the late Queen Mother sold to Denzell
Lord Holles, High Steward to the Queen Consort, Viscount
Brouncker, Chanceller and Keeper of the Great Seal to same,
Henry Viscount Cornbury. Lord Chamberlain of the Household
to same, Sir Richard Bellings, principal Secretary to same, John
Hervey, Treasurer and Receiver General to same, William
Montagu, Esq., Attorney General to same, and John Hall,
Surveyor General to same, several honors, castles, lordships,
manors, messuages, farms, rectories, lands, tenements, &c.,
therein mentioned for the residue of several terms of 99
years therein and upon the trust therein set out. Of these
said terms the longest remaining is not now above 56 years.
For the security of the Queen Consort's enjoying the benefit of
the said premises during her natural life and that leases may
be made for the security and encouragement of the tenants the
King has determined to add another term of 50l. in the
said premises. This is therefore to warrant the preparation of
a great seal to that effect for such additional term to said Lord
Holles et al. as above. and with power likewise to the "said
Denzell Lord Holles, Philip Earl of Chesterfield, William
Viscount Brouncker. Henry Viscount Cornbury, John Hervey
and William Montagu" to make leases of said land. &c., except
the Honor of Grafton and the forests of Salecy and Whittlewood.

Yours of May 31 last to hand about a warrant of ours
directed to the surveyor of woods for felling 1,000 trees in
New Forest viz. as being improperly directed. We acknowledge
it ought to have been addressed to the Woodward, but
Sir John Morton, the present Woodward, appears never to
have acted and to be wholly a stranger to the business of the
place. We will see that they are in future sent as you desire
to the Chief Justice in Eyre as usual. Meanwhile you can
have a view of the timber cut under the present warrant and if
it is injurious to the beauty of the park or the shelter of the
deer we will stop it.

containing an indenture between the King of the one part and
George Dashwood, Peter Calverd, Samuell Vincent and
Edmund Bostock of the other, for the farm by them of the
Excise and Additional Excise granted by the Acts of 12 Car. II.
and confirmed by the Acts of 13 Car. II. and the late Act
(22 and 23 Car. c. 5) : for the additional Excise : all in
consideration of 180,000l. advanced by them (whereof 30,000l.
is paid at three several payments in May and June. 1673,
and the remaining 150,000l. is to be advanced and paid
in the months of October and November next by weekly
or equal proportions, the first payment to begin the first week

Same to same to deliver up the bond for 300l. given by Thomas
Herlackenden, late Receiver of the Royal and Additional Aid,
co. Kent, and Thomas Mun : the said sum having been paid
by said Receiver, as part of his account of his receipt, to
Thomas Miller upon a bill by him counterfeited from
Alderman Backwell, and the King having remitted same to
Herleckenden in consideration of his constant loyalty and
services.

Same to the Customs Commissioners. On the 6th inst. the King
ordered in Council that the Lord Treasurer should direct the
seizure and confiscation of all manner of foreign manufactures
that are prohibited by law and to cause His Majesty's part
thereof to be publicly burnt. You are to give strict order in
accordance herewith to all the Customs officers for [such
burning of] all foreign wearing manufactures, viz. after legal
condemnation and after levying a tally at the Receipt for His
Majesty's part of such seizures.

Royal warrant to the Attorney General for a great seal for a
grant of the pension of 850l. per an. to Elizabeth Hamilton
for 99 years if her three sons James, George and William
Hamilton shall so long live ; for their education and support
and disposable by her in trust for them : and also for the further
grant of 500l. per an. to herself for life : both to commence
from Lady Day last and to be paid by the Receivers of Tenths
of the Dioceses of Oxford, Worcester, Hereford, St. Davids
and Chester : the letters patent of 1671, May 15, having
granted the said annuity of 850l. to her husband, James
Hamilton, lately slain at sea.
