June 10 Privy Seal directing the Treasury and the Officers of the Receipt to register 189,300l. in orders on the Eleven Months' tax in the names of persons as below: the same to be (together with 10,300l. loans on the same tax) for repayment to the King of the 200,000l. which was due to be advanced for the King's civil government by the new Farmers of the Customs, but which with the King's consent was paid by said Farmers to the Navy and Ordnance (viz. 190,000l. paid to Sir George Carteret, Treasurer of the Navy, in November last, and 10,000l. paid to Wm. June 13 Privy Seal for the issue of 30,000l. to the Earl of Anglesey, Under-Treasurer of the Kingdom of Ireland, for a necessary supply for strengthening that kingdom against the Dutch, the same having been proposed by the Privy Seal of August 31 last: to be taken unto him without any accompt "which our Treasurer and Under-Treasurer have excepted unto thinking it fitter for our service that the same be charged by an Imprest roll to be signed by the Auditor of the Receipt of our Exchequer here and to be transmitted into Ireland there" and he charged to account for it there. The Treasury to the Justices of the Peace of the several counties concerning the complaints of the Farmers and officers of the Hearth money as to the riots against paying the said duty, freeing of distresses, &c., in all which the officers find little countenance from those in authority so far "that we are almost at a stand to consider how such things can be acted under a quiet and settled government." Explain to them what the exemptions are which the Act contemplates: further as to the charging of furnaces, kilns, ovens, &c.: also as to rules for the guidance of the officers.
