Warrant from Treasurer Southampton to Francis Stevens, a Serjeant at Arms, to arrest John Symball, of Battersea, brewer, for reviling and assaulting Thomas Owen, who, with Philemon Porter, went to his house to gauge his beer and ale, and found a quantity of strong beer with some barrels of small beer, part whereof said Symball conveyed away to be mingled with the strong whereby to reduce the whole to the usual price allowed by the statute for strong beer, and so deceive His Majesty of duty. |

As these latter sums amount to 19,237l. 16s. 8d. there will be wanting 1,870l. 15s. 4d. to meet same. (Monsieur Planoy, apothecary to the Queen Mother, had the yearly salary of 50l. and 100l. out of the Customs, and 500l. by way of agreement in lieu of all bills, and 160l. per an. for board wages).
